"The interest wasn't one-sided, either. The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt reported on Monday that there was "mutual interest" between Ulbrich and the 49ers in the vacant defensive coordinator position.

The Jets, however, weren't going to let Ulbrich leave. The 49ers never issued a formal interview request because the Jets "made it clear that they were not going to let Ulbrich leave," per Rosenblatt."

Got dammit I'm praying the 49ers land Ulbrich next year!!!! LB coaches have done great for the defense!!!! Ulbrich will have a top 3 LB in Fred Warner to communicate with, it can't get better than that!!!! A healthy Greenlaw too!!!

I am with you man...Ulbrich could be long term answer for us at DC. Pretty clear, albeit unfairly due to the dumpster fire he inherited with the jets organization, he won't get a HC job any time soon. Tired of losing quality coaches every year and I am sure Kyle is too.
I was dead wrong on Aaron Rodgers. I really thought he had something left in the tank and adding Adams would give him the boost he needed but it is clear he is done.

Things I love about Ulbrich as the 49ers DC, besides being a proven DC:

Bay Area native
Was a LB in college, a pretty good one at that.
Was drafted by the 9ers
Knows Kyle Shanahan from their time in Atlanta
His defense owned KC (that has a lot to do with the players he had to work with too) But still, he called the plays. No 49ers DC can claim that.

Could be a good thing.

I may not have thought he was going to be MVP Aaron Rodgers, but I didn't think he would be whatever this is, either. It's bad.

His defense is gonna get beat when his offense looks like s**t and doesn't look any better than a University of Hawaii's offense. With that said, they are ranked #7 in yards and 12th in points allowed, tad much better than the 9ers who has the #2 offense by Sorensen's side.
I'm not sure he would be a long term answer. If he comes to SF and has success he'll get HC interviews. That's the way it works in the NFL now. He hasn't been the DC long enough to show how good he is. Looking at stats from a few games doesn't really tell you much.

Demeco's the best coach to come from Kyle's tree since he got here, and it's not even close imo.

Demeco must suck because he hasn't won a SB.

No doubt at all and quite honestly Mike McDaniel isn't too bad either, IMO, Tua is just not that great.
GARBAGE. Had the lead thanks to fumbles etc and STILL lost. Tried to be the hero. IDIOT. Seahawks win in a sloppy garbage fest from both teams.
Washed out f**kface.

In order to acquire Ulbrich (and why not just go get Saleh for that matter), Kyle would have to part ways with both Sorenson and Staley.

No way he's going to do that. Both those guys will become DCs for other teams and it will suck
Time for retirement
