Don't give Rodgers help now ?

Weird short term , makes some sense long term .

Rodgers contract has f**ked them over the years. I think Love will be a superstar. They should be able to add a lot more pieces with a rods contract off the books

Aaron Rodgers dead cap numbers
2020: $51.15 mil
2021: $31.55 mil
2022: $17.21 mil
2023: $2.85 mil

They are financially stuck w Rodgers thru 2022

Thanks for the info

I think Love is a cant miss type of guy. I'm in the minority in that I think this was a good pick, even if they are somewhat stuck with a rods contact for a few years. Love will be a superstar and their franchise guy for ten to fifteen years. A rod has about three years left probably

A rod might also have a turn back the clock elite year because I'm sure he is pissed off that Love was drafted

it's a good situation for Love. he's raw, but talented. sitting for 2 years is perfect for him. freaking GB can't stop producing great QBs. thankfully its a pos place and no FA wants to go there lol. otherwise they would be winning like it was the 60s again.
Rodgers sat for 3 years. That looks like what They're going for again.
If they find a trade partner to take on his contract he could be gone sooner than later.

There is no way they can absorb the dead money hit until after the 2021 season. So by the time they move on from Rodgers, they've wasted most of the low cost years of Love's contract.

Dumb move for a team that was one game away from the SB with only one WR that was worth a damn and the corpse of Jimmy Graham at TE.

I don't think they could acquire anyone that would put them over the top. Also, I know they made the nfc championship game but some of that is due to the schedule and the playoff system. No one really considered them as a team that could win it all. Remember when a lot of analysts were calling them the worst 9-1 team ever

Niners snatched their soul easily two times last year.
Packers were the worst 13-3 team I've ever seen

nah. you are underestimating how good this team was. they beat Sea in the playoffs before playing us. we were just that good.

and we matched up great against them. a dominant DL will make any QB look average. we made Pat look average as well through 3 and half QTs, the only difference was that our offense couldn't score on them like we did against the Packers.

agree.. people slobbered all over them late in the year cuz they beat a bunch of no bodies , and no matter how much joe buck and collinsworth begged for rodgers to beat us,,, he had no chance and especially in the last game was totally disinterested

If it makes you feel any better, this Friday's E:60 on ESPN will be all about Alex Smith.
