Absolutely falls on Kyle. Somehow someone will blame Jimmy for this guy still being here lol

Facts. There is going to be such an empty bucket void when he's gone for some. Like Seattleites not being allowed to talk about the weather, what are they gonna talk about now?

Just a reminder for y'all. If Hightower gets poached elsewhere, we get a 3rd rd comp pick.

I'm sure teams elsewhere are like the Niners ST unit sucks, we must get this guy

I'm genuinely interested in who will get the blame next year, if we look mediocre to trash again. You have any guesses?
maybe, we start spreading blame accordingly? Or do you think we'll continue to blame the QB (Trey) for all of our problems?

I am sure I could set aside ten minutes a week to draw up a s**tty game plan. f**k this dude. Fire him already.

Blaming the QB for everything including global warming is such a long, tried and true 49er fan tradition, I just can't see fans suddenly putting their VR QB goggles down. It's just such an easy, simplistic target. It takes zero thought or brain power. It's especially easy for the b/w and dense thinkers even in a gray sport.

How about you?

Not to give this guy a big out, but how much did losing Cannon hurt us yesterday ? Benjamin as a backup returner was horrible, Hasty was much better. In general our team only has one plan for everything and the next man up never seems to step up when put on the spot.

Yeah, that's literally THE issue.

Both his kickers have weak kickoff legs and instead of kicking it lower and out through the back of the EZ, Hightower still has these kicks landing from the 1 yard line to the 6 for an immediate return.

That instantly leads to Cannon having to run down and make a tackle. He's done.

Hightower then pivots to Benjamin who's been active 3 minutes all year and looks completely ill-prepared and fumbled instantly. 7 points the other way.

That leads to him then using Hasty who's just come off I.R.

Aiyuk still has no idea when to field a punt and when to let it go. The gunners tackle him 100% instantly anyhow.

Hightower has never run a trick play even with a Special Teams Weapon. And his unit is even more ill-prepared to guard against one.

He has zero backup plan for WHEN Gould goes down. Still missing crucial FG's and extra points.

Watches returners have early success and then acts surprised when the same returner breaks a 99 yarder because again, he can't figure out that a lower trajectory will help make the ball go further and out the back of the EZ.

How many times was our offense stuck inside our own 5 yard line last night? When was the last time we experienced that from a punt?

He's been given record breaking college punt returners and they've all gotten worse here.

This guy isn't useless. He's destructive.

Brutal but very accurate assessment.

Harbaugh always talked about winning all 3 phases of the game and it was us that always had ST prepared. Now I can't remember a game won by good ST play. We always lose that ST phase and the turnovers lost are always shocking and huge game changers. Maybe he will be ready to retire year ?
if i'm kyle this dude is fired ASAP

History says you're probably right. But IMO, if that happens with Trey the savior at the helm, I think many will have no choice but to finally open their eyes to all the other problems. We'll see...

Let's hope so. I hope Trey knows what he just got himself into. Haha.
Still here?
Must be fired after the season in my opinion. This garbage has gone on too long. Zero creativity in any aspect whatsoever and terrible coverage units on kickoffs.

The only area we're good is punt coverage where we rank top 5.

We are bottom 10 of the league in return average for returning kickoffs AND defending kickoffs.

Wow, even with that 99 yard return, top 5? That's surprising.

Do you have the volume on kickoffs for teams? I would imagine we're high up on the volume of returns where most opt for kicking out of the EZ and just starting on the 25.
Ugh get this dude out of here
