I'm not sure how you prepare for a fake punt that early in a game when you have the team backed up inside their own 30. Who does that? Be honest and admit you were caught by surprise. I actually missed it live because I was getting something in the kitchen assuming it would just be a routine punt.

Pete would have looked like a total idiot if that hadn't worked. They could have gone down a TD really early. It shows how desperate they were. They needed something to fire up the team and the crowd after losing 3 straight and 4 of 5 home games this years.

I mean he just said they called the perfect play there...he said it caught them off guard, they had a play call setup to help the offense get in good field position. He said it was a ballsy play and teams run it all the time and it doesn't work...like you said their ST guy would have looked dumb as s**t if it didn't work.

Hightower took full responsibility for that play...I actually was encouraged by his presser. We will see.
Keep thinking one of these days when this thread gets bumped it's going to be due to him being fired.

Really hoping they move on from him. Get a guy who really knows and can coach up ST. The Seahawks hired Larry Izzo, a former ST standout. Who here remembers Steve Tasker and his ST play? Guy was a stud ST player for many years with the Bills. Can he coach? I think he's a sports reporter now.

Every week ST coaches are coming up with creative ways to make a difference in games and he's completely invisible.

Without Raheem Mostert, he's a mess and his units give up TD's or huge gains. He's using Tarvarius Moore correctly as a gunner but apparently, he hasn't taught him a single thing on reading fair catches, how he can't be the first to touch the ball if pushed out of bounds, inside the 20 downing, etc.

Pinion is still inconsistent and taught to make shorter kicks with 30 second hang times and his long snapper just got tagged with a 10 game PED suspension. Robbie Gould seems to mask a lot.

The penalties are ridiculous too.

He could probably use this guy though:

This makes me want to :

"Throughout the week, (special teams coordinator Larry) Izzo was telling us we've got the green light if we see this look, and they gave it to us on the first play," said running back Travis Homer.

Still here?

But will he face the media this week?

Yup.

"We gotta do better."

You're welcome.

We have found his script writer.

How do you prepare? Please. You become a professional coach. This dud is no more than a cheer leader. 4 years and nothing is better,

You mean they have an actual proper coach?

Special teams unit seems to be getting worse each game. The coverage Is bad, they look unprepared for trick plays, and then you have Aiyuk who looks lost back there. Overall, It's up there with the CB and OL position that needs a serious overhaul in the off-season

Imagine having Superbowl aspirations like ShanaLynch yet still sticking with this guy. Talk about setting a low standard.

OK so how would a professional coach have been better prepared and or saw that fake coming that early in the game?

Does every team who gets beat with a fake punt play in a game have an unprofessional STs coach or does that only apply to ours?
He's real good.
