The 49ers would be 8-4 without special teams disasters: Righting that ship https://t.co/nEh8ZfPsrm via @YouTube

I tried to tell you 3 years ago. Welcome. LOL
We all have been saying this....
Hightower is a huge liability and if he were any other position coach, he would have long been fired.

Yeah but to NY, I have only talked about pass protection all this time. LOL
But yes! Imagine how different the WZ if we were 8-4.

Hightower should be fired, no question about this. However, this doesn't solve the fact that the way the 53 man roster was build, John and Kyle doesn't really give any preference to special team standout. K, P, and long snappers are fine, but pretty much every team takes 3 roster spots for those 3 positions. No returners (kick/punt) and no gunners on the roster is a sign the this team doesn't care about ST. We all knew Richie James, Aiyuk, Sanu, and Cannon were never going to be good explosive returners.

Mostert was a gunner until he became a featured back. Cannon was a gunner and returner but got knocked out on the 1st play.

I am talking about this season. Mostert was not going to play ST. We claimed Cannon off of waiver. He was never going to be a ST standout player as a returner or a gunner. We needed a plan to get those players early through FA or draft, not claiming a player off the street after week 1 of the season.

Mad that we aren't 13-1.

Legit chance of that if not for 37 seconds and a few other costly boneheaded mistakes. Team loves to find creative ways to lose half the time.
Originally posted by NCommand:I thought the units overall played much better in covering punts and kickoffs than they have in recent history and getting some turnover action (thanks mainly to Bungles). However, Wish and Gould individually didn't have very good games. Wish consistently had short kicks and obviously Gould missed the game winner to avoid overtime. We need both of those guys to step up with the playoffs looming and points/field position being key ingredients to winning.
Unit nearly cost us a 4th game this year.
Wife comes in at the end: "How's it going?"
Me: "Gould just missed a game winning FG at regulation."
Wife: "Again?"
