Starting an NFL Franchise today, Shanny or McVay?

Totally agree. 1 more year would be more like a head banger! Thus the poll.
One is 2-0 in their last two games. The other is 0-2.

Shanny has a killer December record. Usually that's a good thing.

One has been through adversity, the other is about to experience it. Looking more and more like an early exit out of the playoffs just like last season. McVay is so overrated.

I like Kyle! He can get a team going without either starting tackle or a starting fullback so that's pretty good!

This seems like a kneejerk poll, so I'll go back. Back in 2017, when we were in the middle of being 0-9 and we weren't sure if we were going to win a game, I would've picked Kyle. There are certain things I like in a HC. With KS, for the first time since the Mooch or Seifert days, I felt we had the HC with the higher football IQ each and every Sunday. You could see these plays where the receiver would be wide open, but Hoyer couldn't find them. You'd say the chunk plays we could put together or how the offense was piling up yards, only for the drive to end in a turnover. There were all these small indicators that we were headed in the right direction.

I also look for being able to beat a team that you aren't supposed to beat. The 2017 Jaguars game comes to mind. They were the Sacksonville Jaguars. Defensively, they were pretty much what we are right now. Imagine the 2017 49ers beating the 2019 49ers. Same impact. We hung 44 on that vaunted defense. As time went on, there was this natural progression and you could see the vision unfolding with the players he brought in. Even with the players that fell out of favor, KS was adamant (some say stubborn) about his system on offense and Saleh's system on defense, running the way it was supposed to- in spite of talent. It's probably why he pounded the table for a guy like Joe Williams, in spite of ALL of the red flags, because he had visions of that 83 yard TD that Breida popped.

What's scary is that, it's only going to get better. I think Jimmy G has had some good games, but overall, the receivers have not. When we see the Goodwin of 2017 and Pettis of last year (or better), then we move from being a team capable of winning a playoff game (how I see us now) to a team that would be favored to win a Super Bowl.

They are over halfway to my 9-7 prediction.

Onto McVay. He walked into a good situation, much like Harbaugh in 2011 and he elevated his team to being a contender, almost immediately. Goff went from looking like a bust under Fischer to a top QB. What we will find out now is if McVay can do what Shanahan has already proven. Can McVay handle the adversity? On the flip side, week to week, Shanahan will be proving that this team can handle the spotlight, big games, rising expectations, and can make a playoff run.

I think McVay is a good coach and will ultimately pass his test. I think KS is a great coach and we are seeing week to week that he is going to pass his current test. Teacher > student.

I'll take Shanny who can make a UDFA QB look like a decent starting QB.

You dont think McVay could do that? He certainly made a kid who struggled big time his rookie year become one of the better QBs in the league.

I like both coaches and would be happy with either to be honest. Gun to my head... Id take McVay.

One QB was the number overall pick though. It's like if Solomon Thomas began to look like John Randle verses some UDFA looking like Gerald McCoy or Grady Jackson.
I want McVey. I am sick of winning. It is getting boring. Can't criticise as many players all the time now. It sucks to win

One guy inherited a pretty stacked team and just had to plug one or two pieces.

The other inherited a lottery team with absolutely no talent and had to revamp nearly every single position.

While guy one has been to a Superbowl guy 2 is a lot more sustainable.
