How good is Josh Rosen?

Better than Sam Darnold. Struggled this year but the potential is there. Made some great throws. Solid ball placement for YAC and in tight windows.
I would say, Rosen just entering his 2nd NFL year and with a poor O, is not bad enough to justify spending another 1st round pick on the position. I suppose maybe but only if the guy is a guaranteed pick, which Murray isn't.
Even if they wanted him, they wouldn't have to use the #1 pick in the draft to get him. He's probably projected for the late 1st or after , they could easily package a couple picks to get back into the first, but they'd be stupid to use first pick on someone nobody would take.

I try to ignore rookie seasons when looking at QB's, I remember I was at the stick for Manning's first game, he looked terrible.

I understand your point - IIRC as a rookie he was protected with quick throws (I think they had a league low in sacks allowed) and handing off to Faulk.
But terrible might not be the right word. That day he had 3 TDs and they were leading 31-17 after 3Q (Young led a 4Q comeback).

Kyler Murray is also like 5'9". If Rosen came out this year he'd be the #1 QB in this draft class.

Not so sure about that
I was thinking about this the other day. Just the fact that nobody in the media lol'd at the rumors that the cards might trade him- to make room for Murray- is pretty damning to how he is thought of.

The cards put out a statement a day or so later saying no way are they trading him. But, damn, did everyone sit up for a second and listen.

No way that happens with any other qb taken in last years first round.

I think he's horrible - lacks accuracy.
After his rookie year I thought Goff was one of the worst picks ever. Putting playmakers around him and having an O-Line keeping him upright worked wonders. This is one reason I won't make a final judgement on Rosen, give him some time.

He'll be as cute as Doug Flutie (maybe cuter with those tiny hands).

One of these Dline guys getting drafted (Q Williams, Ferrell, Allen, etc.) might send him back to baseball...

Goff still isn't great. He's just on a team of studs running wide open because of McVay's scheme.

lol at calling Rosen horrible after one season. He had a terrible OL that couldnt pass or run block very well, had very few weapons, and was pretty much constantly under pressure. Maybe reserve judgement until Arizona actually gets guys who can block and a couple of years under his belt. Sometimes guys can suddenly turn things around when they get good coaching and better players around them. Jared Goff is the perfect example. Peyton Manning was pretty bad his rookie year with 28 interceptions and he turned out ok

Manning also set the rookie td passing mark. A better comparison would be Blaine Gabbert.

These are awful examples.

Goff is an outlayer not the norm. There are way, way more Joey Harringtons than Jared Goffs.

Also, absolutely nothing about Peyton Manning's rookie season showed us he couldn't get it done. He was REGULALRY dropping dimes. Nobody questioned if Peyton Manning could be a franchise guy.

Using Goff (a clear and obvious exception) and a HOF QB as your data points suspends the laws of logic and reason.

It is HIGHLY more likely Rosen is something much less than either of those guys.

As a general comment: Have any of you Rosen supporters watched him for any length of time in the 2018 season? He was atrocious. Him airmailing balls several times a game, throwing directly into the defenders hands several times a game has little to do with coaching. He was a dog.

Yes, he will get better. He can't get worse.
