Hopefully he teaches our guys how to run those option routes the Patriots are so known for.

Taylor, Pettis, and Kittle can dominate at those routes.

Fair point and lord knows great players don't necessarily make good coaches. However, as one of quite a few crying for the organization to bring in more former 49ers dynasty players as coaches or consultants over the years, I welcome Wes Welker's playoff/all-pro/pro-bowl caliber experience and the influence he'll have on the current WR corp who certainly could use it. He had a monster career which I hope will rub off on some of our players.
Can this cracker coach?

Right, I mean we can only hope. If he is that good to be a one and done? Then he did a lot to teach our guys the finer points of the position. His whole game was technique and hard work. You pass those on and it sticks around an organization for years after you leave.
WW was one of the few players Belichick actively pursed and finally got...as he said, can't beat him, so let's go get him. He brings a ton of experience, savvy, toughness, grit and determination. TT should definitely benefit, but so will others. Great hire.
Sounds like he was a hit with the WRs the Niners interviewed at the combine

I personally think that he'll be a better OC from learning the Patriots offense.. I have my doubts w/he being a WR coach because he's more of a system type of player.. He's not a #1 nor a #2, and plays were design to take advantage of what he can do..

I'm sure he'll be able to give some tips to the guys, especially Cheech (James) and Chong (Taylor) on how to work the underneath, but the fact that he was not a great route runner, he wont be the guy that could teach Deebo and Hurd how to be great.

Maybe we can trade him to the Browns for a couple of draft picks.

But seriously, if he does become OC on another team (say the Browns) now we can trade our cast off players to him, because he knows our players.
