If sacrificing your qb for some yards is your thing then, by all means, go for it.

Lamar will last 2 to 3 years being a mostly running option qb.

Btw is rtp added on to those "rushing" yards?

Niners were a Robbie Gould winning fg away from beating these "MVPs "on the road, in their house, in ridiculous weather.

Goes to show you why I call the Pats overrated.

They get a free playoff pass and csn play 3rd stringers in that bs trash division.

Niners are playing contenders and ex Nfc /AFC champs.

Seriously, even the NFC's wildcard bubble teams could win most of the divisions in the AFC this year.

Lol at all of this
This thread has not aged well at all.

That said, if Jackson doesn't start sliding, he's going to get his stuf all jacked up at some point. Cam Newton used to run seeking out contact and he's built like an Abrams tank compared to Jackson. Now he's completely broken down.

If Jackson doesn't start sliding, he'll wind up seriously injured sooner rather than later. He should look to a guy like Russell Wilson on how to best protect your short and long term health while still being a threat with your feet.

Not only that, but they're running power type plays with him up the gut like he is Cam's size. Just asking for trouble.

Throwing-wise, it was about what I expected out of him. He, like Kap in that offense, makes dazzling wow plays, but he was also leaving gimme plays on the field because he is just not a pass-first QB, and is not going to carry the offense by passing.

Electrifying QB for sure, but I've seen those guys get hurt in the NFL ever since I can remember. QBs are getting more athletic, but so are the guys tackling them.

Agreed. I don't wish it on anyone but Lamar Jackson is looking to get ousted by injury. This guy is running plays that are designed to put him in traffic and it is just dangerous to that player. I remember when both CK and Willow were running heavy RO, it was VERY effective and they were just blowing teams out. By 2013, both of those QBs had rarely kept the ball by design and that wasn't just a coincidence, they had to protect themselves. Lamar Jackson is literally playing the extra RB that mixes it up, I think he is an amazing player but JoBaugh is sacrificing that player.
The way Arik was tackling the RB without the ball during an option.....

why can't an edge LB do that right away to the qb on every option play regardless?

Terrell Suggs did it nonstop in that super bowl.

Kap was getting hit even after the ball was long gone.

Coaching
Come playoff time, opponents will not let up on Jackson. He will definitely be feeling the hits.

@31:35

that is how you stop the option qb run.

That is how the niners fell behind 28-6 at the half.

''..that is not illegal.''

I was going to ask it's legal to do that.

Coaching had the 49ers holding Baltimore's red hot offense to their lowest point total of the season. Maybe the approach they chose was a good one?

The problem is that you still have to hit him. The Rams sold out to hit Jackson as much as possible and they had little luck while guys like Ingram ran wild on them. Eventually Jackson will get smashed but he's been able to successfully evade the big hit up until now and if you focus your defense solely on him, the rest of that offense will beat you up.

They have a great dynamic going in that they are able to win with speed and power and if they get a lead on you in the second half, you're in a world of trouble with all the downhill running that they do.

Totally!! Same thing I was thinking. Just kill the QB every time and let the other guys worry about the RB.
