I'm not saying that Murray or Lamar will pan out, I thought the same things about the Seahawks QB and he's rolling with a monster contract. So, that skill set will work if the QB improves and can play from the pocket and still make plays with his legs.

The problem with the running QB's in the NFL all comes down to speed. These guys can dominate in high school and college where they get buy on pure athleticism because they play a lot of bad teams. Look at college schedules and you see at least 2 or 3 total mismatches and another 2 or 3 that aren't very competitive. College defenses as a whole are very weak with only a few teams actually putting up much of an effort. Look where most of the defensive players come from. SEC, ACC and Big Ten. Look where most of the running, big stat QB's come from. BIG12, PAC12 and some of the 2nd tier conferences. It's no coincidence that they throw for massive yardage in these weaker conferences. When the QB's get to the NFL they eventually have to learn how to throw from the pocket because they can't outrun the faster LB's and even some of the lineman. So it is either learn to pass from the pocket or get beat up trying to run.
Russell Wilson is really a pocket passer who has the ability to elude the rush and find open receivers but he gets sacked a lot. He happens to be built really sturdy so so far he has been able to survive the punishment unlike some of the other running QB's. When you pay your QB so much money you really don't want them running too much.

I wouldn't trash talk this much to be honest. This thread will look pretty damn silly if the Ravens manage to beat our asses this season

Harbaugh had nothing to do with Lewis' last game. Goodell already had that in the books.

How's this thread looking OP! Think any of the teams who picked a QB higher don't wish they picked Lamar?

Well, he played well against NE but he is going to have to learn to protect himself on some of those runs or he is going to become yet another mobile qb with a short shelf life.

I think Buffalo is okay with Josh Allen considering that they are winning games in a much similar fashion. The rest......
Mayfield has some fun commercials.

Exactly. Just a matter of time. You wonder if its a genetic weakness of the harbaughs. Thought John was the smart one.

I get killed for my opinions here, but here's yet another one that's played out in my favor. I always told you guys RG3 shredding his knee and the 49ers roster sinking to the bottom overnight did not mean the RO was figured out. I mean we statistically ran the greatest playoff offense of all time because we went RO heavy in the playoffs (https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2017/postseason-qb-drive-stats-and-dvoa), so it was pretty damn obvious that that offense gives defenses fits.
Now I do agree that the Ravens have to worry about injury, but at least they're not letting it scare them like we did with our dual threat QB. Lamar running around gives them the best chance to win, so they gotta live with the fact that he can get injured. Playing him to his strengths is the best thing they can do for his confidence/development. If he gets injured so be it, it's still better then ruining his career by trying to make him be something he is not at this time in his career.

They said that about Rustled Wilsons. The thing about a guy like Jackson is that he's perfectly happy to sit in the pocket and wait for someone to come open. He's improved leaps and bounds as a passer and only continues to get better.

When teams start hitting Lamar every time he might be carrying the ball, like they did Kap when we were running a similar offense under Roman, and see how quickly that dimension is diminished.

The NFL has seen a lot of different offenses and lots of mobile QB's going back all the way to the 60's. Every few years something new comes along or some great athletic QB enters the league and takes the league by surprise. It sometimes takes a year or two but eventually the league figures out how to stop anything new. That's why we keep seeing all this new stuff because the defenses catch on really quick. It's no surprise that versions of the WCO are still the ones that win year in and year out. The WCO is based on sound principles that never really change instead of gimmicks. No gimmick offense or running QB has won a SB yet. I don't call Wilson a running QB because he doesn't look to run; he scrambles to get away from pressure. We see more running QB's now because that's what the colleges are turning out and with them a lack of pass blocking O linemen. Until one of these running QB's or gimmick offenses shows it can win a SB and win consistently the WCO will still be the gold standard.
