It wasn't just one bad snap. It was catastrophically bad. Like a complete mental breakdown. Anytime you have 7 consecutive bad snaps, it's tough for them to look at that and feel comfortable moving forward with that. It sucks, but I do understand it.
I think they know that many games could be close in the coming weeks and we can't afford any mistakes from the snapper that cost us.
Was it really 7 consecutive snaps? I'm with the others, feels short sighted for one bad game but I don't know what else might be going on with him. I mean if you cut a kicker for every bad game, we would have cut Gould a couple times. Would've cut everyone at some point.

I think you have to look at the previous games too. A lot of kicks have been nearly blocked and snap speed and accuracy could be an issue that we didn't notice as much until it became as egregiously bad as it was on Sunday. The blocked punt in week 1 was 100% on Nelson.

This is ridiculous. Look at gostkowski. He missed like 4 field goals earlier this year and they stuck with him. He rewarded them with huge kicks recently. Maybe he sucks during practice too? It can't be one bad game

This is stupid. You don't make changes to s**t like this during the middle of the season.

If you're going to add waived to the title why not take out the re-signed while you're at it.
Niners Kyle Nelson (waived). Makes more sense

Again, Nelson has been terrible all year. He blew his block leaving DJ with an impossible 2v1 situation, and helped cost us the game against Arizona letting that punt get blocked. FGs and other kicks have been nearly blocked over the past two weeks due to bad snaps, and the 7 consecutive bad snaps on FGs/XPs against the NYG was the final straw.
In reality, after further review, it was not just one bad game, it was every game. So I understand it much more now.

Kyle said in his press conference that Nelson had been trending downward with his play. The game on Sunday sounded like it was the catalyst for actually making the change. Kyle also said when a guy starts to struggle like that you have to give someone else an opportunity. He also said he believes Kyle will come out of it and be playing somewhere.

Its a specific skill to snap a ball through your legs in perfect position for a holder or punter to catch it. Skule filled the role in a pinch, but he's not going to be able to take the amount of reps to perfect the art while attending all the OL meetings and working on his blocking technique.
No, of course I don't think I'm the first to think that lol. I still don't think this "special skill" requires 1.5hrs of practice every freaking day. Look It's just a discussion point. On a team that loves and preaches versatility, if our WRs can learn and execute the playbook of all 3 spots, TEs can fill FB and vice versa, DEs can play inside and out etc. You get my drift. Brunskill learned and played all 3 of OT, G, and C.
It's a LOT harder than you think to get to the level of these guys lmao. I can guarantee that every single NFL long snapper has been dedicated to that position for years. There's obviously a reason that people like Skule aren't just filling in on the side.

Good job cutting him before he cost a game.
