I might be alone in this thinking but I always thought that the LS was a waste of a roster spot. Can easily just have a backup lineman be the LS imo. Skule looked fine in that one rep

Do you remember how Gould looked last year with a variety of LS's while Kyle was suspended? Kicking is a HUGE mental game, and the confidence a LS provides that kicker is very much needed..

I mean it would be the same backup OL doing it, not a variety of them lol. I've never seen a LS f**kup that many times in one game. This same question was asked of Shanny in today's presser and he said what you guys are saying. I still agree to disagree, I'd use the roster spot on another position. Long snapping isn't that hard plain and simple.

I disagree. Centers in this league have bad shotgun snaps quite often, but thr QB in a shotgun formation can often catch a bad snap standing up. With a holder kneeling down, the quality of the snap needs to be much better and precise. Also, center in this league don't do 15 yard punt snaps. That might be much harder than FG snaps. In this league you often see teams lossing a game because of a miss FG. You really need a quality long snapper and not just have a center doing long snapping.

Yeah, Long Snapping isn't just simple, like you said Centers have a hard time snapping in shotgun, now try doing it when the PK or P are further from the LOS, especially the Punter.
Hope he shakes that game & no more issues for Nelson

Yeah I'd hate for a dude to lose his job because of one messed up day.

Cold blooded! Kyle doesn't even have these standards for his other positions. Imagine if he brought in some T's after McGlinchey's week 1 performance. LOL.

yeah well one way to look at it is replacing a LS is much easier than a RT.

Cure for the yips: go on a week-long fishing trip and just fish and drink beer.
Could it be the drugs? I hear this yips thing, but for so long he has been reliable.
Dude has 1 bad game and is about to be replaced but Pettis is still on the roster lol
They asked Kyle about using Skule or another O lineman as the long snapper and saving a roster spot. His answer made sense. He said that risk of an O lineman getting injured during the game would mean you would lose your long snapper as well. It's not that easy to just put someone else in and have good results. We saw it last year with Gould. If they weren't important every team in the league wouldn't have one.

You can literally be blind and long snap lol. It's not hard to do. If it were, there wouldn't be multiple people available that we are working out right now to replace Nelson. Is it important, of course, it can change games if the snap isn't good.

There are lots of people available at all positions across the NFL. The availability of free agents doesn't mean long snapping takes no skill. No correlation.

He deserves his job right now based on his resume. But if he has the yips against the Eagles... idk. That's a huge liability. Hope he gets his head right.

That was weird last Sunday - this guy has just been a machine these past years as a reliable LS. Hoping it was just a one-game thing and he gets back to his previous form.

Where did I say it doesn't take skill? I just said It's not as hard as some are making it out to be. Yeah there are available players of all positions, but would we sign them and have them play this Sunday? What playbook and scheme does a LS have to learn?
