In the three drafts since Lynch and Shanahan have been hired, not one draft pick has been spent on an interior offensive lineman. So, yeah, color me doubtful on drafting a guard at all let alone in the first round. Shanahan likes veterans on the interior.

This. It's a long-standing Shanahan philosophy. Outdated, but consistently predictable.

Nah it's not outdated (as far as drafting a guard in the 1st)

There's been 4 guards drafted in the 1st since 2015 and TWO of them have been on or are still on the 49ers

I'm all for drafting a guy to play tackle BUT can rock inside until then. Like I said, 4 guards taken in the 1st since 2015 and two of them have or are still in SF lol.

It's the same s**t he's dealt with at KC There's nothing new or unexpected...his more than likely not gonna practice a ton (same as KC). He SHOULD be delegated to passing downs. We have better edge defenders anyway.
We need a left tackle of the future a big bodied #1 receiver and a safety or 2

The way Paraag does contracts, it does benefit the Niners. It can also benefit the player. If I'm a player I want my lump sum of the contract up front too. Anything can happen in football wether it's an injury or you just continue to ball out and receive another front loaded contract.

Agree. Front loaded contracts better reflect the reality that NFL careers are very short and an injury can end it in an eye blink. Also less cap hit in the future frees up cap space for cap flexibility.

Having said that, if your roster is loaded with talent, the cap forces you to get rid of your most expensive. That means constant development of new talent, which gives coaches like Kyle - who can develop undrafted talent (at least on offense) a huge edge.

I think if I'm Praag, I'd just allocate a fixed cap percentage to QB and Edge Rusher, and the rest can be changed depending on who is shining in a given year. Or maybe they have a targeted allocation of cap percentages relative to the positions, like QB being the most expensive and Edge rusher being 2nd most expensive, etc...

Shwrmans take on player movement is going to make the negotiations for a new CBA **very difficult** I predict another player hold out like 2011.

Don't like how this sounds at all... seems like something that will hinder him all year, maybe for his career.

This dude may be damaged goods, and that is unfortunate because he was a beast.

This is incorrect no matter how many times you say it. The tendonosis is new.

We shall see. Coming out early already in Week 2 concerns me. Hopefully he really is a gamer and does not need to practice much. We will need him to contribute if we are to make a serious run in January

it has also been stated its a chronic knee issue.. now i do not recall anyone saying this about him before or right after the trade,, we knew he has some issue with the knee but once he started missing a bunch of time. i think alot of good posters here realized. oh. this is not just "something". which led to oh... now we know why kc was eager to unload him. now we went from a every down player to.. well hope he can manage it and be productive.
I assumed it will be salt and pepper between Ronald Blair and Dee Tendinitis ...
