What a debacle.

What's better for 9ers?

Aren't the Cap terms entirely different for an injury settlement?
Dude needs to just retire. Sucks but he needs to be real.

Yep.
"When a player retires, the team has the option to track the return of a portion of the signing bonus equal to the unplayed portions of the contract, and that money will no longer count towards the salary cap. This is usually done by an arbitrator."
I wasn't a fan of the trade, nor the compensation. I feared exactly what happened. Dee balled out in a contract year and the 49ers got played.

My biggest problem with Ward is that the Chiefs didn't want him so they must know something about him that we don't (like he's a flash in the pan).
We should've known that about Dee Ford too. He led the league in sacks and they traded more to get Frank Clark than they got for trading Ford.

But Dee Ford must have passed the physical when we traded for him.

Imagine a Dolphins fan saying that about Tyreek Hill or a Broncos fan about Russell Wilson, Jets fans about Laken Tomlinson,, etc. The Chiefs are trying to save some money at this point, same as us.

PTSD over Ford's body breaking down.
What are the salary cap ramifications?
Ford's time in SF

No one knows if the Chiefs wanted Ward back or not, and as someone else said they're trying to save money, they couldn't afford Ward long term, same with Mathieu, that's why they've moved on from both.

They didn't want Hill either...must suck.

Ward has improved every yr he's played and the only injuries he's had are a broken hand where he missed on game and a quad strain in 4 yrs. Chiefs had no cash and maybe he didn't want to come back...players have a choice too.
