555...like the #55 that just keeps on going forever.
I believe it was Lynch that said he expected Ford would retire before the season starts. One reason they owe him as much as they do is he allowed them to restructure his deal a couple of times which pushed the money back so they could get some cap relief. Now they can't push it anywhere.

No thanks. Well pass.

Naw bra .... not Ford fan or even sympathizer but his sack per snap rate is actually pretty frikin beastly. ( even last year)
I have to admit I was pretty pumped on the prospect of Kinlaw and DJ Jones in the middle eating blockers like squirrels with Bosa and Ford blazing through from the edge almost like Smith n Smith wrecking crew from Harbaugh times .

Between ford, jimmy g, and mcsloppy, that's like 45 mil in cap space.

I can see why teams like to keep guaranteed money low/signing bonuses if possible. With a lower number, the 49ers could have released him long ago without much cap damage.

We did have an out after two years I think but then he couldn't stay healthy (injury guarantees) and we restructured him to free up money elsewhere because of it.

It's been us stuck between a rock and a Ford place for a few years now.

Thus why it's better to get jimmy off the books so they don't have to restructure a bunch of guys to pay Deebo and 97

But we need to keep them and dump deebo.. in order to just remain competitive.. god forbid we keep or get anyone to ascend us above competitive. when lynch took over . i did not know just being competitive was the type of bricks he was bringing

Having Jimmy on the books right now is negatively impacting what?

That's not true from what I've heard. An extension can be done on both Nick and Deebo with Jimmy still on the books. From my understanding the signing bonus would be prorated over the contract length which in Nick's case would likely LOWER his cap hit for this upcoming season. Deebo's would likely be on the same boat that he's in for this year.

I want Jimmy gone as much as the best guy but he really bungled up the trade situation with getting surgery. The next likely time to get something done is draft weekend.

I think draft weekend is still too soon for something to happen. Jimmy has to start throwing again for a team to gauge interest and that won't happen until July.

Jimmy still being on the books effects how they can get a deal done with Bosa and Deebo. They would have to restructure several guys to get them extended while Jimmy is under contract. Not to mention you can take some of Jimmy's money and front load one of their contracts. Without Jimmy you may only need to restructure one guy. I don't Bosa is worried about an extension now. He's gonna put up another great year and his price tag will be to make him the highest paid defender in the league. Deebo has more urgency being a 2nd round pick

I'm not going to argue with you because I'm far from an expert but in two separate 49ers podcasts I listened to yesterday they both eluded to Nick and Deebo being extended can be done with jimmy on the books WITHOUT restructuring guys like you're saying.

If Nick's cap hit is around 10 million on the season his prorated signing bonus would come in below that on the cap hit for this year. I think they says Deebo's is around 3 million and it would likely be in that area.
