There's a proposal for a single-use 4th & 15 alternate to an onside kick.
Seems gimmicky, but oh well.

The onside kick is already gimmicky and was basically neutered by the new rule that doesn't allow a running start on kickoffs. At least the 4th and 15 would be an actual football play.

Was the home game in China, 2020, part of this meeting?

home game in China. Really Jed?
we already lose so many games. You can chalk that one as another loss next year.

They could just, you know, make an exception to the running start if in an onside kick formation. The onside kick is a low % play, as it should be. 4th and 15, while difficult, can be executed way more often than an onside kick.

I think it should be more like 4th and 20 or 25. 4th and 15, while still difficult, is a lot easier to convert than an onside kick.
My main problem with this is the fact that I know we are going to see a lot of conversions due to defensive holding or defensive pass interference. I dont want that.

That's a good point. Might become the NFL's version of "and 1".

That's about right.
Sources: The 32 head coaches crafted a proposal to add an official in the booth to oversee "clear and obvious" mistakes on DPI, OPI, roughing the passer, defenseless player rules. The HCs then voted 32-0 to present it.

NFL isn't planning a vote on it. Some coaches aren't happy.
Of course not. It would interfere with games that are fixed

Ha. The proposal might've been made as a protest to all the rules.
