LOL this clip right above? I see one guy shove him onto the ground, that's all it took

I'll give him this, he has better hands than Celek and if he has only a decent camp (doesn't have to be great, just good), that may seal Celek's fate here. Having said that, he still would be lucky just to hold a candle to Kittle's dirty drawers.

That clip above he was leaping with his back to the goal posts falling on his back lol, his momentum was already carrying him to the ground. I'm talking about another clip from that twitter thread against Oregon.

Big body. Sure hands. Tough kid. The fact that we got him in the 6th round is much value. A lot to like here.

Celek's days are numbered. Still tho, Smith might be lucky to hold a candle to Kittle's dirty drawers (maybe in a couple years)

True. Celek is just an old veteran at this point. TE3 on many teams, but not exactly a hot commodity. Certainly was time to find a better complement with upside since Celek not only has zero at this point, but he's been on the decline.

Really, ever since he battled injuries a few seasons back he hasn't been the same player. He looks like a 4.8 guy at best these days with not much strength as a blocker even on STs. I wonder if that previous back injury has caught up to him. Since being here, he's had back, hamstring, ankle, and recently a broken thumb injury. Has been a solid Niner, but the team needed a replacement.
Man the kid has hands. If he can block at an NFL level he will be perfect as a second tightend.

Yes. He'll do well behind Kittle and Celek. I'm certain he'll get a lot of playing time, especially when guys get dinged up....
with all that being said, we need to remind the rooke that he needs to worry about making the team first...

REMIND him as well that we haven't had any luck with his fella Cardinal homies for sometime now..
Crickets.....
Haven't heard a thing lately about Smith from all I've read - wonder if anyone else has? I'll take anything...a tough grab here, a crushing block there...

Agreed. Hearing Dwelley looks like he's taking advantage of his opportunity and is in the early lead for #2 TE.
I always thought he was molasses slow, didnt understand the pick
