Definitely deserves the money, I don't see how an argument can be made otherwise.

Young, 23. Elite pass catcher. Doesn't take big hits when he runs.
Ya, this is a no doubter. Especially for 16 mil a year. You get an elite 2 way player for that money.

No RB deserves that type of $ in today's NFL according to the current RB contracts.
These guys should be getting paid, especially if the offense is built around them and not the QB.

He's not just a RB though. The Marshall Faulk type RBs are the future and RBs need to start learning to catch if they want to get payed. 16 Mil for an elite WR/RB is just fine.

He's also a star primed to make the jump to super star. He's a guy that can put asses in the seats and generate money for the team. Pay him.

If this is the case, I wonder why so many people were saying we should cut Jet McKinnon because he was overpaid?
He is the exact same thing, a running back with great speed and great hands.
Am I missing something?

I don't feel like looking up McKinnons numbers, but I bet McCaffreys are much better. McKinnon is also always hurt. And with the proven depth already have, he seems obsolete.
I don't even know why you posed this question.

Ya, you are sure missing a lot lol. I can't believe I have to take time to answer this.
One of them is an all pro who has broken multiple records during his first 3 years.
McK's best season through his first 4 years was 500 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving.
CMC's best season is 1400 yards rushing and 1000 yards receiving. CMC did what McK did as a rookie lol...
And let's not forget one of them has played 48 straight games, while one is on pace to miss 48 straight games.

Didn't he do this coming off the bench and without Kyle Shanahan?
Now imagine him as a starter with KS?
I get it, McCaffrey is Roger Craig. But as far as a skill set these guys are very similar so why no love for OUR guy?

I agree with you. Jet isn't as skilled as McCaffrey but like you said he offers a similar ability because he's a dual threat. He'll fit well if he can stay healthy and get his legs back.Originally posted by glorydayz:Originally posted by TheGore49er:Originally posted by glorydayz:Originally posted by TheGore49er:Originally posted by DaBeegDeek:Originally posted by TheGore49er:Originally posted by glorydayz:Originally posted by TheGore49er:Originally posted by DaBeegDeek:Definitely deserves the money, I don't see how an argument can be made otherwise.

I also agree that I'd take McCaffrey any day of the week though. McCaffrey is a super star, McKinnon is a question mark.

It's fine for Carolina to pay him but in our system the answer would be no because Kyle shares the load/ is just better than everyone else at finding replaceable system guys.

Assuming Breida doesn't get an offer elsewhere, we are paying:
McKinnon: $3M
Breida: $3M
Coleman: $5M
Mostert: $3M
I'll take McCaffrey and three Jeff Wilson's for a marginal difference in salary compared to the above.
To say that McCaffrey in our system would be a NO is laughable to me.

You wouldn't say that if McCaffrey goes down. Our approach is to have multiple backs we're comfortable with at every game so yeah we're going to have a few mid range guys. All that being said if we took McCaffrey he likely wouldn't have 2k yards rushing/ receiving and he may be cheaper. But as a 12 mil per guy I wouldn't mind pulling a Portis.
