Andrew Luck had a calf strain.
Irsay on radio yesterday said the absence From TC was due to a bone issue with his lower left leg.
Ballard tonight said the calf strain is now a high ankle issue.
Why the confusion? This is what happens all the time with instant news without knowing facts.
Let me try and help.
Luck more than likely never had a calf strain. He prob tweaked his high ankle ligament and thought it was a calf strain. Because your lower calf feels like it's burning when you tweak the Interosseous ligament.
I'm ok coach just a little muscle tweak. Kept practicing.
Luck prob strained the ligament, kept practicing then finally tore it.
A high ankle sprain is a tear in the ligaments that connect the Fibula to the Tibia. Irsay is technically not wrong saying that's a "bone issue". Because his bones are not attached as they should be. lolz
Did they shut him down and confirm a high ankle sprain with an MRI? Might be why Ballard said that?
Also
A stable high ankle sprain is a partial tear and the only treatment is not running and RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation.
Unstable high ankle sprain is a complete tear requiring surgery.
Recovery time
Common ankle sprains could be 1-4 weeks
High ankle sprains could be 1-4 months
OR
He could have just a strained ligament and be good to go in a couple weeks.
Because no one other than the team and Luck really know. lolz
Hope this clears it up.
