Dude one of the most overrated HC when he was hired away as OC of the Bears, along with Hue Jackson of the Bengals.

I remember being totally pissed when we hired Tomsula over him lol

I am still pissed about that... Tomsula might be the worst head coaching hire ever.

I think we're the best team in the NFC West right now. I get some need proof/ and will wait for us to beat the Hawks/ Rans but when you label us a pretenders I think that's hating.

Yeah I agree I have never been more disappointed to be a 49ers fan than I was the day we hired Tomsula (on my frickin' birthday too).

Still, there's a chance we came out smelling like roses. He only lasted a year, who knows how long we would have been stuck with Gase

LMAO! Tommy Boy set us back a season cause he sucked so bad. Gase look somewhat competent but still sucks, so he had a chance to put us back 2-3 seasons!!! 😂

Chip Kelly was an even bigger disappointment in my eyes because it showed that Baalke and York were even dumber than I thought

At least Gase managed to get the Dolphins into the playoffs one year, Tomsula was never qualified to be a head coach in the NFL. Seeing him on the sidelines was an embarrassment to this franchise
I love today's news headlines. Monte Pool and other beat writers are screaming the following opinions: THE STEELERS NEED TO SIGN COLIN KAEPERNICK NOW!!!!!

LOL! Is Kaepernick paying these guys or are they serious?

"BUT HE TOOK THE 49ERS TO THE SUPER BOWL IN 2012!!!!!"

LOL! Actually, our defense and Frank Gore did that. Plus, check your calendar. It's 2019.

"BUT, BUT, BUT HE'S A MOBILE QB!!!!"

LOL. He was in 2012. Today he has the mobility of a ham sandwich.

Seriously, do these beat writers actually believe this junk they're shoveling? Or is it really all about clicks??? Cause that's all Kaepernick is worth these days: a click.

They want a team to sign Kap cause they want the free clicks when they write their super duper woke article.

Writers like Monte Poole and his ilk need to realize that Kaepernick played himself out of the league with a series of horrendous seasons. He was benched in favor of a career backup!

But Poole lost all credibility with me when he started lecturing Bosa on politics and let his hatred for Donald Trump and anything Republican show publicly. The fact that he still pulls a paycheck from an employer astounds me to no end.

Don't get me wrong here. I still believe in freedom of speech. If some sports writer wants to lecture sports fans about political correctness, fine by me. Just don't expect me to read it, click on it, or follow the likes of NBC Sports Bay Area. I'll take my sports coverage without a lecture on political correctness, please. And, just so we're straight on this, the same advice applies to Steve Kerr or any other sports figure that wants to lecture fans on the issue of politics.

I don't want to hear it. Please keep it to yourself. If you insist upon spouting off hatred towards Republicans, Democrats or Independents, you've lost me.

It was hard to be a Niner fan that season. Seemed like we would be shi**y forever with the unholy trinity of York, Baalke, and Kelly.

I don't think that Kap actually played himself out of the league per se...…..I think he did within the context of the 49er structure at the time. He wasn't fully developed a QB like say Russell Wilson is now where he could be ok in any situation.

So it's very possible Kap could come into a very good situation and be a pretty decent QB (assuming he can pick up where he left off in 2016). Based on many metrics, the Kap of 2016 was better than the Kap of 2014 who won 8 games with the defense and Gore/Hyde doing a lot of work. The Kap that left the league might have been better than the possibly overrated 2012/2013 Kap…...I didn't watch all the games of Chip Kelly era 11 time zones away, but I caught the Dolphins game where he looked pretty decent.

And BTW, I bet a lot of Niner fans are like me:

We defended Kap before he was a household name to non football fans. I was fighting the good fight that he was a decent QB, still possibly better than Wilson.

I remember many annoying rival fans not giving Kap credit in 2014, 2015...….and they started to change their tune to fit a virtue signaling woke narrative in 2016-2017. That to me was annoying AF and made me not want him to have any success, even at the price of him being our own QB!

Biggest tragedy with Kap is that we didn't surround him with the guys he needed the way Shanahan does for the team now. Letting a proper X in Moss go and Delanie Walker was huge. Probably with some semblance of those guys kept we win the SB in 2013.

Oh well....
