Dude one of the most overrated HC when he was hired away as OC of the Bears, along with Hue Jackson of the Bengals.

I remember being totally pissed when we hired Tomsula over him lol

I am still pissed about that... Tomsula might be the worst head coaching hire ever.

I bet you feel stupid right now.

Whatever you do... Don't read a season review of 2015. Keep that blissful ignorance!

As awful as 2016 was, and it was terrible, although mostly boring, second worst 49ers team behind 2004. It still was better to see Chip as the head coach over Tomsula, at least Chip at the time felt more head coach material, while Tomsula was more cutting ham and turkey in the deli section at your local supermarket material

"Last offseason, the coaches' subcommittee of the Competition Committee pushed for the point of emphasis, and coaches are getting what they want. Through the first two weeks of the season, 179 offensive holding penalties have been called, 70 more than were called through the first two weeks last season. That's a 64 percent increase. Unsightly? Maybe. But it is what coaches, who believed the violation was there and was simply not being called often enough, asked for. It's also worth noting that this is the rare rules adjustment that benefits the defense at the expense of offense."

Offense will just have to adjust to stop holding. Defense needed a benefit after all the benefits the offense received.

I remember the hype over that MNF win lol

I actually think we got the best HC in that 2017 hire frenzy. At least in the long run. I feel like mcvay had the team already in place to win. Also shanny is better able to adapt to defenses; DCs have a tougher time figuring him out.

Compare Belichick vs mcvay, and vs shanahan in their respective SBs.
not good

Lol

Long way from the contract holdout of 2009 and being pissed that Darius Heyward-Bey was picked over him.

With that said, he had a good career.

Interestingly enough, I view Hue Jackson's stint as HC as more of a case of Peter's Principle than being overrated. He paid his dues and deserved a shot. Some guys are just clearly in over their heads. If Vic Fangio doesn't work out at HC of the Broncos, it's the same thing. Adam Gase on the other hand is a guy that became a hot name with Peyton Manning and had a good season or two with the Bears. Not a very long track record of success.

As for the Jets, they are getting what they deserve. How on earth do you hire a failed coach and one that failed in your division. They saw that guy twice a year. What about him screamed, "Yes, we want that guy on OUR sideline!"?

17 games, 2 preseason games. Down the line, add two more playoff teams.

But they're still hell-bent on making the season longer. Why add another game, just so they can make that much more extra money as possible? Odd number of games seems pointless. Does basketball have 79 games or baseball 161? Stupid.
