It all hinges on the DEFENSIVE LINE, and I'm going to keep pounding this issue in every thread. The 49ers invested the majority of their resources in the DL. They need to step the f**k up, especially the guy they took 14th overall.
Moseley isn't a top CB in the league. He'll get beaten out by good WR's.

But he's scrappy. He'll challenge receivers and he doesn't back down. He stays with his guy. He's a starting level, competent CB.

That's really all we need, with our pass rush. Because honestly, because of that… the Packers resorted to quick throws, back shoulder, or throwing it over top on single coverage. Notice they did that to our rookie, but not so much with Moseley. They tried to attack Moseley on a route and he defended it perfectly.

If Josh Norman can come back and play with similar competency as Moseley, we'll be okay. Will it be 2021 Jason Verrett or 2019 Richard Sherman? No, but they don't have to be with this defense… Just enough to make the QB think twice about just throwing it up.

I disagree with this take about the defensive line. Rodgers was throwing passes in 2 seconds each time. I don't care who the pass rushers are, they're not going to get there in time.

Lenoir is still developing and I think he'll get there, but they definitely picked on him.

Lenoir keeps giving up big plays.

Let's see if he doesn't give up over what 12 catches and 150 yards this week to Hopkins and company like last year

I'd feel about better about the secondary if the 49ers didn't lose their best corner to an ACL in Week 1.

About Moseley, according to homepage article allowing 56% completion percentage when targeted and passer rating of 73.4. Top 5 in passes defended. Has not allowed TD pass yet. [But he sure did allow a PI that led to a TD!]

The team was better off addressing the secondary and corner positions in the draft, instead of giving up several years of first round capitol for a QB from backwater university to ride the bench and "learn" . It was foolish of the FO to believe Jason Verrett would've given us another fully healthy campaign. If this team falls short in the playoffs, if they even make it at all, the secondary will be the main factor, if not the right side of the OLine .

Giving up that amount of draft capital for Lance was a stupid move. I would've rather picked Kyle Pitts at 3. McVay said he thought that's what we were going to do when we first made that move.

Disagree, they would have had to trade picks to get above CAR/DEN to get the 2 only 1st round worthy CBs (one is on season-ending IR) and trading multiple picks for a TE would have been even more foolish than for a QB that has a 50-50 hit rate.

This team is snake-bit. I can count off our best players going on IR even before the season begins. Crabtree, way back in the day. Jerrick McKinnon, Mostert. then later in the regular season Bosa and Jimmy.

It's almost a given that one of our stars goes out every season. Almost by clock work. This is ridiculous.

Agree about the amount of draft capital used on Trey. I think it was too much. But I don't think it was stupid. More like aggressive - well *overly* aggressive -- like calling a play on 4th and 1 at the goal line after eating up 10+ minutes, instead of kicking the field goal. If you get the points, it's good, if you don't - yes it's stupid. Personally, I'd rather have Kyle wait for the draft to come to him, but I understand that he wanted Trey Lance bad. From what I've seen of Trey, I think (for now) it's a good gamble. The kid has a ton of upside and athletic talent. I think the odds are that it will pan out, vs not.
