Football is an alpha male franchise run by egotistical wealthy men and coached by men that for the most part played the sport at some level in their lives.
It's not realistic for a person who didn't actually play the sport and that suffered through the physical pain as well as the mental pain of competing against other men that you had to maintain their level, even if you weren't at that level.
Playing a sport for years when every next play or practice could end your life as you know it or even end your life.

The alpha male men that this sport is built on, will never accept or respect a woman coaching them that didn't play at their level. Sure, women play in football leagues and there are some amazing athletes, but unfortunately it's still the day in age where when it comes to men vs women, there are Ray Rice's in the league that will KO his own lady and drag her by her arm through a public hallway

Just my opinion, but I don't see that day coming very soon.

Good.

Women have no business being in a Man's league. Sorry. I've learned when people like the guy above complain about this stuff it's more about patting themselves on the back for being "woke" and bragging about it. Forced Diversity is man made and useless outside that sh-thole they call California.

I'd stop watching if Women starting playing or taking over head coaching jobs. Start their own league if they want the opportunities. I see no purpose whatsoever with putting women everywhere on the field other than to stroke your own ego. Putting them in small roles like being an assistant or a referee is fine. Trying to put them on the field as kickers or head coaching jobs makes no sense.

Equal opportunity, not equal outcome.

Luckily for you, when that time comes you can move to some beautiful middle eastern countries where they share the exact sentiments against women as you do.

LOL!! That's your retort? A whiny response because it took you out of your safe space? LOLOLOLOLOL!!

If you want to act like an adult and have a grown up conversation, let me know. Clearly this conversation is a little too old for you.

There was nothing adult or grown in your original statement that he responded to. You're a neanderthal and the reason there has to be "Forced Diversity". YOU are the causation for that which you b***h about. Classic.
C"mon guys. Keep it civil. You can disagree without calling each other names.

Disagree with both of you. Very few head coaches were top players in the NFL. "The alpha male that this sport is built on, will never accept or respect a woman coaching them who didn't play at their level." Oh really? So, how do they work up respect for Bill Walsh, Kyle Shanahan, Bill Belichick, none of whom played in the NFL and none of whom played remotely at the top level?

It may be difficult for various reasons for women to play in the NFL. But there is no reason why they can't succeed in coaching and if they do, why they can't progress to be the Head Coach. Attitudes to women have undergone huge changes in the last couple of decades and change is surely likely to continue.

As for comments like "Women have no business being in a Man's league", "I'd stop watching if Women starting playing or taking over head coaching jobs" and "Football is an alpha male franchise run by egotistical wealthy men" well, SMDH. People might like to check how many franchises are or have been owned by women. And that is excluding Denise DeBartolo, for the sake of argument. But if people are prepared to say that they would stop watching the game if a woman takes over a Head Coaching job, that is just misogyny. Why, if she can can a franchise successfully? Just simple prejudice.

Walsh and belicheck come from different eras. How many new coaches started out in HS? Then work there way up asst HS, HC HS, asst small college, HC small college.
And kyle played WR for a division 1 school, not exactly a case of "cant do teach."

But the modern way(which i believe started under walsh) is minimum wage young guys cramming film to tell you tendancies(yours and your opponents) which essentially eliminates NFL players. But i still think a playing background is important.

But i think head coach is far off. This is not a. Shot at katie, her success is because she knows what she is doing. But i think a woman needs a HC with the players bought in. I think from there a successful college coach or a successful NFL coordinator(shanahsn/saleh success, in charge of your side of the ball type) or "inheriting" a team from a HC that walks away with a team that already "knows" she is good.

The reason i say she will need that is not because she needs it, but the players need it to get past her being a woman. It may be sad, but it is true.

Anything co-Ed when men and women instinctively lust one another is the reason for #metoo.

Only time the same man and the same woman should be hanging out together on a daily basis is if they are in a relationship or courting.

block you. You're a horribly whiny poster and you contribute nothing to threads. Plus, you seem like a loser. So I'm going to make this experience a better one by blocking a terrible poster. Don't take it personally.

I have no doubt your dealing with a bored arrogant teenager or an adult who never grew past a teenager Mentality. You can tell by the controlled oscillation between raging sexism and regular discourse.

I was very cynical when I heard about the hiring, thinking it was more of a publicity stunt, but after looking her up and seeing that she had playing experience, changed my mind. I'm not a fan of publicity based experiments, but with her history, she is the real deal and wish her lots of success in the league.
lol this thread took a turn.

I take a different tack. I think it will evolve the way the WWE has evolved. A division for men and a division for women. I think that makes the most sense. You have that in basketball, soccer, you have that (in a sense) in track and field. Until women and men are physically equally capable, that (to me) makes the most sense.

I think Katie has talked about being head of a womens league but once again you have a problem of numbers. There just aren't that many women who want to plat a sport that rough. Maybe they do it as a flag league but there still are very few that play at the lower levels. I look at women's college basketball and see huge routs all the time because there are enough really good players for about 8-10 teams. It's always the same teams every year. Women's bodies aren't built for the kind of contact you have in football. Even in flag football you have to block and lot's of injuries happen during blocking. I think once again it's a numbers game.

When basketball started it was just a few people also, before it became a world wide phenomenon. Great players are always a scarce resource, that's nothing new.

A lot will depend on the evolution of the game. Will there be more rules to eliminate the physicality of the sport or less? We don't know.

But women who love the sport of football have a bright future so long as folks like Katie are around. Without her and others like her who love the sport, I think football would lose a big part of what can be a bright future for that side of the game.
