Colts are the same team that misdiagnosed his shoulder injury that took nearly two years to recover as a simple strain at first so anything is possibleOriginally posted by blizzuntz:Originally posted by WINiner:Originally posted by blizzuntz:Originally posted by WINiner:Originally posted by jcs:Reports are out that he thought about retirement during his shoulder rehab a couple of years ago. As for his injury I'm sure you got the inside report as to how bad it is because the rest of the world hasn't. The guy couldn't even stand on the pedestal with ought moving back and forth while he announced his retirement.Originally posted by WINiner:Originally posted by jcs:Originally posted by WINiner:What an effin douche. Leave your team high and dry last freaking minute. How completely selfish can you be? If this is something he was willing to do at all, it's been something that's been on his mind for a long time. He should have bowed out in February, not 2 weeks before the season starts.
He wasn't hurt in Feb.
So he juuuuust started thinking "Man these injuries are starting to pile up. Maybe I should start thinking retirement" with this recent calf injury that doesn't even have him limping as he walks around the field and hadn't thought about it prior to this minor meaningless (in the grand scheme of things) injury?
That's my point. If you are contemplating retirement as far back as years ago, you don't f**king wait till two weeks before the season to make that decision, how effing selfish can you be? He has a responsibility to his teammates and the fans.
I watched him walk around the field with little to no limp during the game.....
You can walk without a limp after an ACL tear .
But he doesn't have an acl, he has a calf issue, which usually results in a limp when severe, but it doesn't matter. He can make whatever choice he wants. The timing is selfish and b******t imo.
Rumor is it's myositis ossificans .
It's when bone forms in the muscle from trauma . When bad (limited range of motion , impingement on nerves or circulation ) it needs surgery and rehab . Problem is , surgery isn't recommended until 6-12 months after the injury to reduce chance of recurrence .
Injury might have happened in playoffs in Jan or in March during practice , most likely Jan with a hit . A doctor could want to do surgery as late as Dec / Jan which means he could miss the whole season any way .
Luck may have attempted rehab , and it failed and the next step is surgery . Who knows, maybe the medical
Staff misdiagnosed it from the start (calf strain , then high ankle sprain , and it retarded the recovery process and is retiring to manage it with his own medical team .

How do you know he didn't tell the Colts?
From what I read the Colts have been preparing for this for over a year now. They even had some clause in his contract regarding an early retirement. And it makes sense bc teams have been calling about Jacoby for over a year now and even 2nd round picks were mentioned, and they wouldn't trade him.
Theres even a sound clip of Luck saying he doesnt know if he can handle another season of rehabing if this happens again.
Now this current injury he has with his calf, has been undiagnosable, doctors dont know whats wrong.
So for those saying he shouldve retired months ago, he didnt know this injury was gonna happen, this is a fairly new injury. He told Peter King weeks ago he was ready for camp and couldnt wait...then this injury happened.
Lastly, people need to grow up and stop thinking that a GAME is more important than someones life. It doesn't matter how you feel about it, Luck or whoever has the right to do whats best for them. If you cant understand that as an adult, especially if you have a family, than I suggest you get your priorities right.
Oh get off yer high friken horse. If the Colts and Luck knew he was potentially going to retire at any moment or that it was likely, but they allowed him to act like he was all in on the season then the fans have EVERY right to be pissed because they were lied to and invested in a season under false pretenses. If he was in a "one more injury and Im done" mental state of mind then he was done a long time ago. If the Colts knew about all this then it's not so egregious against him, but I still contend he should have hung them up in the spring at the latest if that was his mindset and if it was then he and the team are guilty of purposely deceiving the fanbase.
I am sorry that my post and Luck retiring has had such an affect on you. Thoughts and and prayers your way. I hope you can recover from this. I will reach out to Luck and make sure he does right by you.

Nobody complains about the owners cutting players in the middle or at the end of camp. The fans aren't loyal to player who get cut after being hurt or having an off year. The players know fan loyalty is fickle at best. They are right to not consider the fans.

Ya for some reason the fanatics dont see this. Its a business, its a job, the employees dont owe s**t to the public. People really need to find more important things to obsess about than a game. Especially when it has no impact on their life.

Watching Andrew Luck's retirement press conference brought back a lot of memories. My "last day" was Tuesday, October 13th, 2015... my decision was made at a hotel lobby bar in Detroit after a group tryout with the Lions. Here's my story...

And if you do retire why are you on the field? Are you expecting a goodbye kiss from the fans.

What? Did it look like he was gonna have a press conference during the game? Do you people actually read what happened or just make up their own bs...
He was gonna announce his retirement today, but news LEAKED during the game. Wtf was he supposed do, deny it and lie?
But wniner watched him on tv walk without a limp so his medical expertise on this is enough.

If you're retiring you shouldn't be at the game period. And news leaking in 2019. Who could of saw that coming.

Dude has already made 100+ million. Retiring at age 29 with that kind of money in the bank isn't brave, its a dream.
People like LeBatard are just using this story to spout a holier-than-thou diatribe about how progressive they are in the modern age. Hes such a hero.
Luck was committed to the Colts for the 2019 season, and he bailed right before the season started. Thats the problem everyone has with it. If he retired after week 17 it wouldn't have been a controversial topic. Certain media members love to spin this stuff into sports culture virtue signaling, as if they are shaming the angry mob of NFL fans demanding Luck be forced to perform for their entertainment.
The Colts 2019 season is now ruined thanks to this decision. He screwed his entire team. But hes so brave for leaving the game young and rich....

???
The Colts are "committed" on paper to literally dozens of players who the team is going to leave behind.
This isn't marriage. There is literally nothing legally binding these two together. Luck worked within the confines of his contract and retired.
Every player in this league is a mercenary. ZERO players have a commitment to their team or their fanbase. Only to themselves. And every one of them is only committed as much as their love for the game allows.

He bailed bc of the injuries, lets not forget the main reason he retired. Way to leave that part out lol. Youre making it seem like this was Vonte Davis retiring during a game.
Either way, Dan is right at least about the last part in that clip. He doesn't owe you anything, its his life, his health, his family, and at the end of the day thats more important than any game. I understand these posts coming from teenagers, but you guys are adults and some im sure some of you have families. At the end of the day youre probably gonna do whats best for you and your family, at least i hope. Thats all Luck did. If it wasn't for all these injuries he would be playing, you're not gonna find a player who loved football more than Luck.
