Luck was committed to the Colts for the 2019 season, and he bailed right before the season started. Thats the problem everyone has with it. If he retired after week 17 it wouldn't have been a controversial topic. Certain media members love to spin this stuff into sports culture virtue signaling, as if they are shaming the angry mob of NFL fans demanding Luck be forced to perform for their entertainment.

The Colts 2019 season is now ruined thanks to this decision. He screwed his entire team. But hes so brave for leaving the game young and rich....

???

The Colts are "committed" on paper to literally dozens of players who the team is going to leave behind.

This isn't marriage. There is literally nothing legally binding these two together. Luck worked within the confines of his contract and retired.

Every player in this league is a mercenary. ZERO players have a commitment to their team or their fanbase. Only to themselves. And every one of them is only committed as much as their love for the game allows.

Yup. And before ppl use the excuse of those players arent making a lot of money or arent that important to the team, look at the Giants. In Feb their GM is sitting at a press conference literally saying they have no intentions of trading OBJ, one month later...

Its a business. The fanatics need to understand this. Unless you are new at watching sports, by now you should undertstand that players get cut, traded, ask to be traded, hold out, etc.

And this all falls on the Colts. You cant allow your franchise qb to get sacked 60 more times than any other starter. You cant misdiagnose 2 separate injuries and force him into months and months of unnecessary rehab, twice. They f**ked up.

Although it is funny that RG3 is gonna have a longer career lol.

Cut downs are a part of any competitive sport. And you bring up say OBJ being traded. Fans can boo that all they want. Why is this different?

Andrew Luck was one of those rare QBs that elevated the players around him. Hall of Fame talent. Its a shame his career was cut short.
It sucks when a great athlete retires in his prime but i respect their decision. Regardless the money It's not easy to do what they do and it takes a toll on them physically and mentally.

Retirements are part of any competitive sport too.
Few would complain if speights or Beathard got cut. Same would go.for Luck if he sucked. He has no obligation to the fans.

There's a difference between missing a team, cut downs are a part of any competitive sport and just quitting.

Boo hoo for the Colts and the fans.

Athletes need to always put themselves first, the fans will not have their backs if they struggle and get cut.

Dude was going to miss time in '19 anyway.

He was gonna announce his retirement today, but news LEAKED during the game. Wtf was he supposed do, deny it and lie?

But wniner watched him on tv walk without a limp so his medical expertise on this is enough.

If you're retiring you shouldn't be at the game period. And news leaking in 2019. Who could of saw that coming.

Nobody would care if he sucked and got cut so why should he care?

People here aren't crying for how dicked the 49ers are for cutting Malcolm Smith.
Imma be real rn.

Had this happen to other fan base, they would've felt the same as colts fan rn.
Well we pretty much had the whole team retire after Harbaugh left so Colts fans get NO sympathy from me

Troy Smith will get the call before that happens
