Doesn't Bosa only have 3 tackles or something like that.

Fact that you are actually comparing the two tells me you spend more time on ESPN stat sheets then watching teams other than the 49ers....

Why would you bring up that stat if you don't think it has any significance?

Clowney played with two to three very good players on the field... all doing his job while HE was trying to do his job. You can't pay attention to Watt, Merciless, and McKinney, without leaving someone open for an easy sack/tackle.

But hey, what do I know, It's not like I haven't attended 90 percent of the home games for the past five years.... It's not like I don't have a bunch of friends that have the Texans as their first team...

But hey, if being right is more important than being correct... fine.

edit:
Seems like he's really knocking it out of the park this season too. So both my observations and the statistics seem to be congruent.

Yeah, I still don't get the argument here. You posted his total tackle stat then someone replied with Bosa's total tackle count... which seems fair to me if you're gonna use that as a reason you don't think he is good?

Then you're saying he was freed up by the elite players around him, couldn't I say the same thing about Bosa?

And this is coming from someone who fully understands why Bosa is and will be the better player and pass rusher... you gotta do better.

And side note Clowney's best year was when Watt was hurt. During the Saints game he almost had a Safety much in the way Bosa did. And his pressure almost lead to an interception. I agree he hasn't lived up to his hype but to act like he isn't a good football player is just incorrect.

No but he was never the first pick in the draft and he was never paid like a franchise player. Nice try though

He was the 4th pick in the draft and I think we made him the highest paid end in 08 but not sure.

smith was never expected to be a double digit sack guy like clowney was. Clowney was expected to dominate from day 1, theyre completely different players

Yup you're right.....Justin Smith!! Cut and dry it's pretty clear. People expected way way more out of Clowney then a player like Justin Smith. (Drafted at 4 when Aldon was drafted at 7). Anyways we are talking about how overrated Clowney is and he probably won't do much until he gets help, and that is exactly what's happening. It sucks to be right. He is still a good player but not a great pass rusher in my opinion and well as many others

Clowney is too stiff to be really dominant as a pass rusher, big powerful guy and good in straight lines but doesn't have the dip to get round the outside consistently.

Thing is, I would always get to watch Clowney replay the "Steve Young end around on Hailey" with Luck and Mariota twice a year in person and twice a year on television. Multiple times during the game.

I watch Mariota send him to the turf with a stiff arm; something that would happen a couple of times with a running back.

They tried EVERYTHING to make it work with him in Houston. And it never replicated production of Watt and Mercilus. Hell, Conner Barwin out performed him in total game impact.

And watching him turn around to chase a ball carrier is absolutely painful... and you get to view it in real time slow motion.

This is who I wanted us to pursue instead of Dee. Clowney fits our system better as you can see what he's been doing with Seattle. Hopefully he bounces next year and we can sign him in free agency

That won't happen.

It does but with other contracts coming up, our money will not be talking very loudly. I doubt we will see major big name signings next year.

Cowboy absolutely was expected to be a double digit guy in Cincy. There's a reason they didn't pay him.

So with that said, which free agency signings cost us the most money over the last 2 or 3 years?
Lol at the two guys who were telling me Clowney wasn't worth a 3rd rounder and his salary.
