Appalling move by the Texans. What the hell do they think they are doing?

Not from me, this seriously bugs as AF. Stupid Texans must not realize Mingo is basically a bust. People think Solomon Thomas is a first round bust? Mingo is like way worse.
Why does Clowney's injuries keep being brought up? Outside of his rookie year, he's only missed 6 games. That's pretty good.

Clowney in a contract year for a future 3rd and backup LBs who could've easily been cut today. Wow.

29 sacks in 62 career games (Dee Ford has 30.5 sacks in 67 career games). The "injury prone as they come" Clowney has played in 45 of the last 48 regular season games (Ford has played in 37 of 48).

He's a very good pass rusher, and also a plus defender against the run. Seattle has great player development too. I'm sure his game will reach new heights under them.

They've had some miserable trades up there (Harvin, Graham, etc) but this one is an absolute home run. Somehow they trade away their best pass rusher in Clark, and now they're going into the season with Clowney, Ansah (medically cleared for week one), and Collier -- enormous upside there.

Even more shocking is that Seattle traded away Clark for a 1st and a 2nd, and then got Clowney for a third. Ridiculous!
no brainer move by seattle, regardless if clowney is overrated or not
Are we really going crazy about a dude that has averaged 5.5 sacks/year getting traded for a 3rd? Take away his draft status and we would all say yeah that sounds about right. He's played next to JJ watt his whole career, let's not pretend he's been a huge difference maker in Houston.
Texans got a higher third round pick than if he sat out.

Repeating what I said above: Clowney has 29 sacks in 62 career games. Dee Ford has 30.5 sacks in 67 career games.

This! O'Brian is an idiot!

Texans might have moved up to my second most hated team. I hope that franchise folds for the way they treated Clowney when they should've let him walk, now in typical 49ers fashion we have to suffer

I'm with you on this. I f**king hate that franchise.

2018
Ford: 13 sacks 7 ff
Clowny: 9 sacks 1 ff

Lol Houston. This is what happens when you fire your GM and hand over personnel decisions to your HC. I am shocked that they couldn't have worked out some sort of Clowney-Trent Williams centered swap.

Does Ford's contract become the "floor" in the Clowneys contract extension?

Well repeating what others said, Clowney has never lived up to his potential and has never gotten over 10 sacks.

You mentioning fords sacks compared to clowneys is misguided at best because bc he has been injured two years (and wasn't a starter year one whereas Clowney was a starter). Especially since Ford was arguably the best pass rusher last year at creating turnovers as well as having the quickest first step in football.Again Clowney has never been able to get over 10 sacks Ford has done this twice. You mentioned their first round pick that was supposed to go in the second round or third round as having Huge upside? Seems like you are reaching here
