That means, in a league where AVERAGE pass rushers are paid very well on rarely given up... unless your the idiot Raiders, 30 GM's came up with worse offers. That's how much confidence the Texans and 30 other teams have in Clowney being worth a Franchise number for one year.
Think about it.
We once got Brandon Whiting for the game's best receiver after getting a 2nd. Brown went for a 1st then after vetoing the trade went for a 4th. Trade value can depend on a lot of factors most notably if the player is controlling where he lands and that was the case here.
Yes, but Clowney did not have that type of leverage. On top of that; the Miami trade which was suppose to be a better deal, was a load of crap. Miami wasn't going to trade for anyone, they're doing a purge.
I'm just saying, Clowney isn't worth a Franchise number and is a significant risk on a long term deal. The Texans are very aware of this... To top things off... the guy has very little cartilage left in one of his knees after a nasty tear took him out in his rookie season.
At the end of the day, if Clowney is the difference maker on the defense... that defense is giving up points.
