He's worth much more as a tackle than a RG. I hope we grab our RG at 31.

It certainly seems like they are now more comfortable with him at G now. I don't knows if that's because of his actual skill set or team need.

He played very well filing in at LT and RT. That is worth 2-3 times more than a G for us.

Totally agree.

He was a gem of a pick-up.

How confident are you that he'll win the RG job and be a 16 game starter at a higher level than Person?

And what are you basing this off of?

Elite play in 2019. He has proven more than literally any rookie has to date.

He was ranked near the middle of the pack league wide.

Incredible play all year. Especially pass protection. Outplayed Staley in some situations and ended as EASILY our 2nd best OL on the season after Staley. Only two sacks allowed. Absolutely incredible. Elite performance considering this background and performance.

He was the shining star on the OL.
How much longer do we control Brunskills rights? We have him for 2020, but is he a RFA after the season, or is he a URFA?

His play last year spoke for itself. I've seen, and continue to see, far more guys get anointed for far less.

That's fair. But as full time starters? Moseley is probably a good parallel example.

Yes. If you (not specifically you) saw some high/mid round rookie perform the way he did last year, we'd all be pumped about the future with him. Somehow he's discarded because he cane from AAF

Hear that. I'm certainly not discounting him...just saying 50 snaps at RG with Tom Compton as backup scares me. Some players like Garland can get by for a few games and then get worse with time. 16 games is a ton for depth players. You train differently. Mindset is different. And what's his ceiling? Is he already at it? I'm so happy we have him but very worried at the same time when your FQB is the one most at risk if it's a fail.

He played something like 476 snaps total at OT/OG with 7 starts and looked great wherever they played him.

Mass majority at T...really like him there. Just kind of shows you the athleticism required in this system and how T and G are interchangeable in OZ. If a guy from the AAF can walk in and do it, no doubt a top 10 T could convert to G here pretty easily until Staley retires.

Difference is the 9ers shouldn't be continually doing that. It's fine for a backup to cross train but once you are a starter you should be focused on either T or IOL.

A 3rd T is not more valuable than a starting G.

He sure is if he replaces Staley long term. No brainer.

I totally agree with this. With the new CBA rules and a required 8 OL active on game days, OL can finally go back to being specialists...the 3 reserves focus on just T, G & C. No longer is "versatility" the reason one OL stays over another on the 55. This could instantly help OL's improve across the NFL too. That little move is huge in my eyes going forward.

The team sees him as a long term fixture at Guard imo.

But why not get a developmental guy who can become Staleys replacement and use the guy who's ready to start right now. Why have him sit for 2 years as a swing guy?

If he replaces Staley vs he DOES replace Person.

I get your reasoning for sure. If it was up to me, I would keep Skule and Brunskill as on the 53 and grab the best G at 31 or trade back a bit and then take a RG in the 2nd.
Does any one know if this cat can play C?

Not sure, but Garland is a good backup C.
