WR Emmanuel Sanders, BUF

Denver resident here who watched the games and listens to the local sportstalk/insider info all the time...

Sanders is worth what we gave up. He's much better than Sanu and once the trade market had been determined for a 3rd we basically gave that and swapped our 4th for their 5th... which likely will be a difference of maybe 10 spots.

Sanders has had Trevor Simien, Paxton Lynch, Case Keenum and Joe Flacco now as his QBs since Peyton Manning. During that time its also been a revolving door of OC's and inept coaching. This year the former niner coach now Bronco's OC can only find success on his first 15 scripted plays before floundering in play calling.

Make no mistake... all summer and every practice report since had Sanders as the best player on the field and more impressive than Chubb and Von Miller when compared on making an impact.

It is what it is and whether this trade pans out is TBD... but he has consistently been what Goodwin was 2 years ago in his(goodwin) one great season. Fans wanted a #1 receiver... thats what Sanders is, Demaryus Thomas benefited from teams focusing on him and so has Sutton this year. He has always been the #1 threat on Denvers offense whether the stats back it up or not because he can do everything on the route tree which no one else on Denver could.

6-0, 6-0, 6-0. Its all good.

If any of those guys were any good we wouldn't need to make this move.

We may be able to recoup those picks with draft day trades, if not I'm good with Dee Ford and Sanders. It would be hard to land a 3rd or 4th round receiver that can help our offense right now. Plus he seems like a great mentor for the young recievers.

Question is, since we traded picks and not a player. Who gets cut to make room for Sanders spot on the roster?
Bourn, James, D-lineman?

Jordan Crapthews.

Oh, c'mon CC. I wrote that we'd make a trade if the price were right.
This is essentially Sanders for a 3rd. Low 5th vs high 4th (knock on wood) :)

I really don't see the need to waste picks on Emanuel Sanders.

If they were 3-3 then they probably don't make this move but when you're 6-0 and have a legit shot at the playoffs for the first time in years and have a bunch of receivers banged up, risking a late 3rd on a proven playmaking WR isn't really an extreme move.

All I know is that Packers fans are pissed so that makes me smile.

Sh*te deal for a very old player in decline not to mention coming back from serious injury.

The Patriots got the cream (namely Sanu who is by far the better player), instead the 9ers got the bottom of the barrel by overpaying someone who won't add to the current WR corps with the active players we have. Big mistake in my opinion.

Don't kid ourselves, our hope lies in whether Jalen Hurd will be able to come back who is a difference maker type WR that the 9ers need and not just another small and shifty guy that we have in abundance.

This front office seems pretty skilled on selecting late round/Undrafted free agents:

Studs
George Kittle (5th)
Matt (ud)

Promising
Julian Taylor (7th)
Justin Skule(6th)
Dre Greenlaw (5th)
Emmanuel Moseley (ud)

All you can do is react to conditions as they stand, right now we are a serious contender with a glaring weakness...they did something to shore that up and make a run at the big brass ring. I cant fault them for that even if it doesn't work out.

Good post.

I would suspect Goodwin is a lousy teacher. He is fundamentally a bad receiver who trades on being one of the fastest humans on the planet. He cant teach people to be as fast as him.

Is Sanders really that much better than what we already have?

Hes on pace for 900 yds and 4-5 TD's, so I guess. Just seems like a lot for a guy Denver needed to deal. Rental player who is 32. Hm.

If hes good, great trade. If hes mediocre, our 2020 draft is going to suck.

Lol Pettis is on pace for like 230 yards and you think 900 isn't an upgrade?
lol,, my god... is sanders better than our guys.. is that a joke

You guys cant read. I said "is he THAT much better?" Meaning hes the best WR on our roster now, but hes not a number 1 guy anymore. Im skeptical that he can go out there and be head and shoulders above the rest of our guys. Hes more of an OK number 2 at this point of his career.
Good job to the front office for not standing pat and doing nothing. Trade the draft capital now. Its time to win.

Don't even care about the 3rd and 4th

What is a reasonable compensation pick we can get for Sanders leaving after this season? Sixth round pick? Fifth round pick?

He restrained himself and stopped short of blaming the OC. He told the reporters to be real and that they all knew what the problem was on offense.

Isn't their OC our former QB coach?
