I don't think they added a receiver just to get rid of a key one but stranger things have happened.
LET'S sign Terrell Owens too. He said he would take league minimum, just to have a chance to mentor and win a SB.

I don't like what we gave up for a 32 year old WR in his final year of contract.

I'm willing to change my mind if he helps us to a Super Bowl win.
How big of you. LOL

Yes. His game speed is crazy.

A 3rd and 4th for a 32 year old WR.

Look, I trust Shanny and Lynch. They have done a really good job building this roster into a playoff caliber team. But that was too much to cough up for a 32 year old WR likely on a one year rental, maybe a one or two year extension.

I don't care what anyone says, this was a desperation move, a desperation move brought on by the inconsistent play at the WR position. In particular, this is a serious indictment on one healthy Dante Pettis. I am on record as not wanting to draft him, wasn't particularly happy when we drafted him, and I was out on Pettis long before this trade.

Now, don't get me wrong, I really like Emmanuel Sanders. And I fully expect him to have an immediate impact. This team was already a playoff team without him. With him we have a legit SB chance. With the murderous row portion of our schedule still to come a consistent WR to balance Shanny's offense so teams will pay dearly for doubling Kittle.

But make no mistake about it, this is NOT a future move, it's a move for THIS year. He's in the last year of his deal, and at 32 coming off a major injury I cannot see us resigning him to a multi-year deal. For me, the fact that we had to give up future draft picks for a 32 year old WR coming off major injury speaks volumes about Pettis. And this is what bothers me about this trade.

Late 3rd+a late 4th for an early 5th and a high quality veteran receiver.

The 4th and 5th might be like 10 picks apart. So really they gave up a late 3rd to try and go in on making the playoffs and winning in the playoffs with a proven playmaker.
This isn't my issue. The fact that we had to even make this trade in the first place is my issue. We had to couch up future draft picks for a 32 year old one year rental . Again, this is an indictment on Pettis (a healthy Pettis), who seems to be more focused on the color of his hair more than football, who obviously cannot seem to bother himself to visit the weight room (which go directly to why Shanny has to scheme Pettis open).

I am so pissed that we had to do this, that it had to come to this.

Nonsense. If Pettis was the only disappointing roster of the 8(!) we have on the team, then we wouldn't have to make this move.
Show me where I said he was the ONLY disappointment? However, Pettis has been the BIGGEST disappointment, that's for sure. In fact, I dare say that if Pettis - and Pettis alone - displayed half the commitment, focus, and consistency Shanny has needed from him this trade never happens.

Exactly my thoughts

He's got to be slower.

Achilles.

Dudes rarely comeback the same after that.
I like that Lynch is proactive to try to improve the team while we have a chance to compete for the playoffs and ultimately the Super Bowl trophy.

my my... after being lectured to for the last two days.. we do not need anyone. we like our guys. we just need to develop our guys.. oh and kyle knows better than you fans cuz he SAID we do not need anyone.. you go by what they do and not what they say,,, and despite what some homers think... we were not fine with our current crop of underachievers,., now kick jordon out of here. and maybe you trade a guy like pettis or bourne for a 5th or 6th to try to get some picks back. and cj for a 6th,, great trade.. exactly what we needed. he is better than anyone not named kittle on our team. he can start on sunday right away.. my my.. it seems like many of us fans were lock and step with kyle

I don't see us letting go of Bourne or Pettis.

I have a feeling these guys will improve once Sanders starts to get targeted. He's going to require attention, something I can't really say for any one of our receivers except for Kittle.

Im excited, no other way to put it.

He's still balling, albeit with a disinterested Flacco at QB.
