Pettis is showing me EXACTLY what I thought he would be coming out of Washington, and why on draft night I was upset we traded up in the 2nd to get him. Lacks physicality and toughness. And we've learned that he can't spend the focus necessary to be a consistent NFL WR. Sure he gets open - late!!! That's why Shanny has to scheme him open. Defenses know to be physical with him to throw off the timing. By the time he get's himself open Jimmy has already had to look elsewhere. And judging by his current physique it's clear that Pettis isn't a fan of getting in the gym to get stronger so he can get himself open sooner. There's a reason that Jimmy G trusts Deebo more than him. It's why when Deebo isn't on the field Jimmy G will force the ball to Kittle.

Show me where I said he was the ONLY disappointment? However, Pettis has been the BIGGEST disappointment, that's for sure. In fact, I dare say that if Pettis - and Pettis alone - displayed half the commitment, focus, and consistency Shanny has needed from him this trade never happens.
Imo. Pettis is doing EXACTLY what I thought he would. He gets open ALOT but doesn't have the targets to show for it. Even the INT Sunday he toasted his man. Yes he shod have tied to break the ball up but from his perspective he's looking at the ball knowing his man is beat. He doesn't know the S is even coming.
What we need is someone who can get him the ball. Cause dude is always open.
Shanny has given Pettis every opportunity to be the #1 WR but he's failed to be that for the reasons stated above. So, you are totally wrong to blame Jimmy G for Pettis' shortcomings.
