Seems to be quite a bit invested in the WR corps to still not have any consistancy or any clear cut #1.

Im glad they made an effort but for that price and his age, plus what we have already invested this better be the piece that fixes the offense.

Writing off Matthews? Dude he wasn't even in the book...he was a body and had no business being on the roster.

Deebo is a rookie, not some seasoned vet. Hurd's back is f**ked for most of the season and is as green as it gets at the position.

They basically traded a 3rd for a very good WR. They swapped picks so no they didn't give up two picks for him.

Everyone wanted AJ who's a yr younger lol AND hurt. Yet we bring up age with Sanders? People wanted to give up picks and pay AB this off seasons for god sake. He's a yr younger and sanders/AB have very similar skill sets.

Who cares about a 3rd rd pick when you're 6-0 and trying to actually make a run...

lol, i totally forgot about Pettis. I dont want AB or any other high priced FA, I'm just saying we have a TON invested on WRs right now and nothing to show for it. Is that not correct?
Meh trade, I think the biggest benefit of the trade is hopefully the veteran presence helps our other young wrs get better.

I like him, but not for the price.

They basically traded a late 3rd. What are you usually getting with a late 3rd in the draft?

Yeah I know, third round picks are hit and miss, all picks are... That said, his injury concerns, production concerns, age concerns. IMO, just not worth it. There is a very solid chance he fizzles out and ends up netting us about 600 yards over the next one and a half seasons. Hope I'm wrong.

But also, I know there's also the chance he is the little bump we needed to win the ring this year.

We'll see.

The draft is a crap shoot. This wouldnt bother me. I wish they could trade a WR on the roster along with a pick for another proven WR.
Sanders took a few hits earlier in the season that looked season ending too, but came back so I hope his health isn't a issue.

We will have a late first round pick that will get traded for one of the top 10 picks in the second round and then pick up a third rounder in the process. Essentially we will just drop a few spots with our first rounder and give up a fourth. Not bad from that perspective for a receiver that will do everything that Kyle lives and trusts in a wideout

He has no drops this year! With Joe Flacco throwing to him? Enough said 🎤 drop

They have a crapload of young receivers and its too soon to know what they are fully capable of.

I'm not sure what you are arguing though. Should they have not made a move to get better at WR in the short term while waiting for their young receivers to develop over the long term?

Pettus, Deebo and Hurd could ultimately turn out to be studs or duds but having invested in them shouldn't stop the team from trying to get better at a reasonable cost.

I dont know how the mods deal with the negativity in this forum. It's never ends.

Young receivers don't always suddenly just start balling out right out of the gate. Packers fans were screaming for Davante Adams to be cut/traded in the middle of his second season. Dude had crazy drops issues. He figured it out. Hopefully Pettis and Deebo do too. Having Sanders could provide a useful mentor for them.
This post makes the most sense in this thread. Thank you Mr. Phoenix49ers.
