Got cut from the Jets, but will be rehabbing his injury all year. He used to be a pro bowl Guard, wonder if we might try to bring him in next season to see what he has left? If the price is right, it might make sense, and then move Tomlinson over to RG.

Weird what happened with his shoulder & the team fighting him to have surgery. Hope it all works out for him

Yeah, word was that he didn't expect to be back next year with them, so he wanted to have the surgery, and be completely healthy going into next season, especially if the Jets were going to cut him to save money. If I was him in that situation, and his team is going no where this season all the while he most likely was going to get cut in the off season, it is smart to get the surgery now, so you are healthy as a FA in the off season. Allows him to potentially get a better contract being healthy and ready to go, compared to potentially being in the process of rehabbing the surgery he would have gotten at seasons end, or right before it, once the Jets are mathematically eliminated from playoffs.

So I looked up the contract details. The Niners could claim him on waivers and they would owe 5 million for the remainder of this season and 10 million next season, ufa in 2021.

Or wait until he clears waiver and sign him to a contract with lots of outs.

Yeah, I was wanting him to clear waivers, and then look into bringing him in for next season. He is done for this season after his surgery, so I guess once he's a FA, perhaps try to get him to sign a 1 year prove it deal, or get him on like a 3-4 year deal, where we only guarantee his 1st seasons salary, and the other years are team options. Kelechi when healthy is an elite LG, bringing him in next to Staley would be huge for our line. Tomlinson could slide to RG, and Person has a team option, so he could be traded or cut.
