Would you rather take a crazy T.O. or a crazy A.B.? (primes)

I would not be shocked in AB doesn't make 45 years old. He has actual real mental issues.

TO, was a very humble, great guy on the 49ers when he was in Jerry Rices shadow. He is a guy that landed a little bit of money, and lost his filter. It wasn't until later in his career that the press used that against him for hot takes.

TO would have moved in the 2nd place in Rec TDs and maybe 3rd place in all time TDs had he just kept his mouth shut.

AB isn't even top 60 in all time TDs, not even top 30 in Rec TDs. He is at that spot were lots of good players ended up, with 10 more TDs, it would catapult him in to the top 25. Crazy considering he had a HOF stable QB his entire career and played in a passing league designed to produce points. I would have expected a player as good as him to have done more, but i don't follow the Steelers so its really league reputation that i think of concerning AB.

At ABs current rate of production (throw out this year and average his last 4 seasons), if he wanted to challenge TO's numbers, AB would have to play football until he was 48 years old at the same level he did the last 4 seasons.

As far as players go, they are not on the same level.

For AB to threaten Jerry Rices TD record, AB would have to keep his current production level an additional 26 seasons.

AB just does not belong in the same conversation as players like TO or Rice.

Agreed. The AB hype is recency bias. Ive never understood why analysts always refer to him in the same conversation with the best ever guys.
lol

he still knows how to push those buttons.

TO is better, but since when are touchdowns the only metric we judge receivers by?

Do you think Emmit Smith (164 TDs) is superior to Barry Sanders (99 TDs), Marshall Faulk (100 TDs), Frank Gore (79 TDs), and Walter Payton (110 TDs)? Does Joe Montana not belong in the same conversation as Peyton Manning, on account of having half as many career TD passes?

Antonio Brown will -- or would have, anyway -- end up with around the same career yardage total of Terrell Owens. Again, I think Owens is better, but I think your comparison is a little disingenuous.

How is TO crazy? Egotistical sure, definitely a marketer when he was playing and built his brand in the era of diva wide receivers. But crazy? Not even close.

All of this
TO. Played in the era when playing defense was allowed, and was an athletic specimen at WR who changed the game so much that teams started to chase similar sized WRs who could muscle a ton of YAC. TO was an absolute game-changer who did not really depend on the QB to get his stats.

What's the last time you saw a guy catch a simple screen and take it to the house like TO did against the Giants in that famous WC game ?

I love AB's game on the field, the way he runs routes and plays with DBs is amazing. Nonetheless, I'm a proponent of physical (yes, with a capital F) football and TOs style was less finesse but rang closer to home for me.
