Boy, that was tough to watch. There's a big part of me that hopes he retires—for his family's sake. With that said, I understand his desire to prove that he can make a comeback.
Either way, I wish him the most complete and comfortable recovery possible. He was nothing but a class-act here, and his run (along with the Catch III) against New Orleans will probably always be my favorite moment as a 49ers fan. In truth, Alex was the first player I idolized—I was just a kid when we drafted him.

Alex had gratitude the entire time. A conquest of the human spirit over insurmountable odds. Should he play again? It's up to him but I hope he doesn't.
