little respect please. it was not his fault he had moron coaches for most of his tenure here. I can see him end up being a coach. a very good student of the game
the fact he was able to rebound his career and become a top 10 qb for a good while after the start of his career will always leave me wondering how good he could've became if it werent for that shoulder injury and if he had a decent coach from the beginning

Good post... also if he didn't get concussed against AZ. He might have won a chip. Kap's one read limitation ended up f**king us in the big moments

A personal rollercoaster with Smith throughout his career:
2005 draft: Excitement
2005 season: Woof, but it's year 1 and this team is awful
2006: More yuck
2007: This guy is a complete bust
2008 - 2010: How is he still on this team?!
2011: He's starting?
2011 postseason: Shockingly gives the franchise and fanbase a moment that will forever live in the annals of 49ers history.
2012: Keep Smith in, Kaepernick is flashy and has a higher ceiling but this doesn't seem right or fair.
2013: Good luck, you turned it around and I'll be rooting for you
2014-2017: You've put together a pretty solid career now, overall. Never #1 status or close to it, but it was unimaginable to think this was possible
2017-present: Greatest comeback in the history of the sport and an inspiration that extends beyond the game.
If Alex Smith was anything, he was resilient, cool and collected, smart, tough, selfless, and genuinely seemed like such a nice guy. He had EVERY reason to be bitter, resentful, and furious about his treatment throughout his career...and yet, he always seemed to rise above it; he just focused on the next challenge and did what he could.
Class act and glad to see he's going out on his terms--something he never got to do in his career.

as much as i did not ck... i always appreciate how he and alex handled the qb thing...... they did not do what joe and steve did. use the media and divide the locker room.. always appreciated that. lord knows we had enough drama on our team back then

This was an all-time sports moment for real Niner fans. After all that misery. Alex, Frank, Pat, Joe... felt so good for those guys

and if he never would have gotten hurt and lost his job that way to ck with the concusssion. f**king nolan did him no favors and dips**t sing who did not value a qb was even worse. i think he had just set a record on monday night football for percentage of completions in a game

Did Jimmy Garoppolo retire?
No. And Mac Jones is about to enter the league so things will be back to normal in a few days.
jones does not have the legs to score vs the saints like alex did. mack would take the sack
