I shed a tear after the VD post tbh. The real ones understand. Magical moment at The Stick.

If not the best game I've ever been at, it's definitely in the top 3! Still makes me want to jump up and down screaming everytime I see it!

it was perfect that game was played at the stick.. the last time it was that loud there was the come from behind win over the giants in the playoffs..... i always thought alex looked a bit like garcia as both high stepped into the end zone when they scored their respective touchdowns.... i loved that team soo much

It was definitely an incredible season. Funny you should bring up the game against the giants, I was just talking about that game yesterday. It was on NFLN last night!

Two days ago my friend and I were talking about how magical the Vernon Davis catch against the Saints was (actually buddy loved Alex smiths run at the end even more).

I haven't been the new stadium (I moved out of Cali), and I know we've had a lot of losing teams since we have been there, but it doesn't have that same feel to me as the stick did.

SO many magical moments at the stick, I hope one day we can get some of that nostalgic magic for our new stadium.
should have retired after his injury...instead put his leg at risk for permanent amputation by coming back.
first smart move by one of the biggest first pick QB busts of all time.

as long as the blue collar people do not go. it will never happen.. but i think the atmosphere was good two years ago when we went to the super bowl. people who actually went could speak more of that than me
49ers should hire him as a QB coach

Im glad that he got to walk away on his terms. Just a first class human being that earned the ninernation's respect. I wish him nothing but the best and a long healthy life for him and his family.

i think people like him... who were not elite like joe montana but good and a good student of the game are the ones who make the great coaches. gire could be an exception.. it would be nice if they came back to coach for us

I went to that NFCCG against the Packers and there was definitely a bit of that "Stick" feeling. It will just take time, and memories, for the new stadium to find it's "personality."
Damn Captain America always has to meddle in Smith's affairs:

f**king guy. LOL.

Love this news.

Beautiful family, healthy (more or less), and tons of dough in the bank. In his mid-30s. As others have said, I can see him coaching in the future.

I was actually shocked he came back last year. I get that the rehab was on company dime, but still.

I can see him taking a few years off to enjoy life and then get back into football in some capacity. I think most people think he will make a good coach (I dont disagree), but I personally can see him getting behind the mic before I see him getting back on the field as a coach.

I see it the opposite. Alex seems like a private, introverted guy for the most part. Not sure how he'd do in the studio, or if he would be interested in it. The dude loves football though and is smart as s**t. I remember the praise he received for running camp Alex. I think he should get into coaching.

Just imagine a player under Alex, you could never complain about anything. Hurt - MF look at this, Young Guy Drafted - mahomes and kap, Overcoming coaching - 2005-2011. Yeah he has been there seen that, also most have looked at him as a super smart player so i think coach makes sense.

Take a year off, go fishing with vernon, wills, and staley (please film). Then figure it out from there.
