He has been and is currently doing so. Was on twitter just today
Please retire smith. You've endured too much. Think of life after football. I expect him not to play and I pray he does not ever again.

Finally got to watch the Project 11 special. Damn. Smith's personality and character were always at the forefront of why I rooted for him. Obviously his mindset and approach to this injury solidifies that. As a coach and father, this is all I hope for my kids and players to embody. Success on the field and in life isn't always within our control, but one's mindset and outlook always are. Alex Smith is the master of both.

The fan in me would love to see him play again. The husband and father in me hopes he doesn't take that chance again. Either way, such an honor to have called him a 49er and cheered for him. Class act and warrior mindset to the end.

All this.

I don't know. I'm a die hard Utes fan and have had season tickets well before Alex. Personally I think his biggest mistake was coming out his Jr. year. He really needed another year in college.

Matt Leinart says Hi

Maybe. Which reminds me and is off topic.

It should've been Alex vs Leinart in the championship imo. I think between the Alex, Urban Meyer combo, not to mention Utah's stout D, they could've given them a run.

Urban Meyer was at Florida. So it would of been Alex Smith and Kyle Whittingham. The 2005 Utah team went 7-5.
I was referring to 2004 where it was USC crushing Oklahoma and Utah crushing Georgia Tech.

When he was doing intense rehabbing with all those pins sticking out of his leg i felt like a lazy piece of s**t.

If he chooses to comeback I'll root for him hard. I now identify as Alexsexual.

i really really REALLY hope he doesnt come back...i respect his desire and passion, but can you imagine? not just the risk involved, but think about how Jimmy came back and how much just an ACL tear sat in the back of his mind when he came out to perform; imagine a similar thing with Alex, but magnified to a whole different level with everything he went through and came back from...... wtf man. like, even if he did come back, i feel like his recovery would just hold him back even still. maybe be a backup? idk. what would be the point then. I hope Alex coaches 1 day.
Here is an article that summarizes the E:60 piece. Also some embedded clips with good background stuff, including an answer (4/30) to Scott VanPelt about his football in the future.

Shameless plug on my part but I just started making YouTube videos with the extra free time thanks to covid and just made a video on this documentary. (I promise I won't spam the forum any further )
