1. There's still a LONG way before we get to a lockout. The clock doesn't reach zero until more than a year from now. The 2020 season is a part of the old CBA. IIRC this is further along than where we were back in 2010-2011.
2. The 17th game would either a) be played in neutral sites or b) all be AFC vs. NFC games with the AFC hosting a season and NFC hosting another season, and therefore would give one full conference nine home games and the other eight, which is balanced for the playoff race. They're definitely NOT going to mix 9/8 home-game schedules within the same conference. That would obviously be unfair and it won't happen.
3. This is not "to help the Cowboys" and you most certainly will not be seeing "losing record teams in the playoffs every season." In the last 29 years, no hypothetical 7 seed finished worse than 8-8. You'd have to go back to 1990 to find one and this was before the league had 32 teams. Most hypothetical 7 seeds were 9-7. Most will probably be 9-8 or 10-7.
4. There has been nothing about Thursday night games being eliminated. Not sure where this came from.
