They had a dip for a bit but they rebounded really well. 10 years ago everybody said all these changes to the defense and making it fantasy football friendly is gonna ruin the league. I dont like it, but it hasnt messed with ratings, people still love the NFL. So if the owners can make extra money by adding another week and two extra playoff games, they will do bc they know people will still watch.

They get ratings because people are bored and looking for stuff to do. Sports is the modern day bread and circus. It keeps your mind off all the real problems they don't want people to look at.

They totally ruined the game with this no defense stuff. Ronnie Lott couldn't even play in this league. Apparently you can hold all game long in the Super Bowl and not get called even once. Penalizing the better defensive team and not giving them a chance.

People still want to believe in football and have the distraction and tailgating with friends. But make no mistake this is not the same game. It's a much worse game. Watered down from its original form. Especially on defense.

Don't even get me started how one of the most penalized defenses with holding didn't get called for 1 all damn game. I agree, I never been more upset with the nfl but because I love my 9ers and dying for a damn SB my dumb ass will be right back for TC

I think this thing gets rejected - maybe there's still time for another proposal, before the new league year starts.

Yeah, no way they agree to these changes
The Owners won't stop with a 17 game season, there's already talk of an 18 game season. Wrestling and boxing far overshadowed pro football in the 1950's, wasn't even close. The owners got greedy and took up every possible programming time. By the 60's those sports were history. Horse racing in the US used to have packed houses every day and night. Now racetracks are like cemetery's. Could never happen to Pro Football? Keep believing baby.

so theres still a good chance these new changes do NOT take place or do not become official? fall through basically? just want to know that this isn't guaranteed

I couldn't have expressed it any better on all counts.

What time is the vote?
I wonder what it would truly take to cause the NFL to give up trying to do a 17 game season.

If they're gonna do this, they need to expand the 53 man roster, otherwise injuries are going to skyrocket.

The plan allows only ONE extra roster spot for an OL only. Lmfao. No wonder the players think this is a stupid offer. A lot of it looks good, but there are at least a couple glaring things that make it easy to see why Watt and Sherman are like, "No."
