It may seem like a small thing but teams usually have an advantage at home. Half the teams will get screwed. If they raise it to 18 they would need to expand the roster to a full 53. I think they would also be smart to subsidize the new league and use it for developing prospects, much like the NBA does with the G League.

Yeah, I'm all for a 18 game season, too - 17 games is just half assing it.

You can already hear the screaming from the team or teams that get the extra road game and lose and then miss the playoffs.

I'm mean the owners want to eventually get it to 18, why not just do it now. And, yeah who decides who gets a home game or a road game for that 17th game?
If I'm a player, I vote a big NO on this proposal. First of all, this is just more pure greed by the league...they want to fatten their wallets at the players' expense. Injuries are bad enough with a 16-game season. They won't get any better by adding another game. As for two more playoff teams, that doesn't pass the common sense test. In essence you'd be including some .500 or even below teams if you use 2019 W-L data. Elimination of a preseason game may sound good...but realistically, how are coaches supposed to evaluate their rookies, new players, etc. while still playing the starters enough to get them ready for the regular season. The players and their union need to take a stand here & now...vote NO on this entire proposal.

I hope they stay with 16 games but they should still drop a pre season game. Three games should be enough to evaluate the new players and the regulars barely play anymore. I doubt that most teams even have the regulars play one full game combined because they are so scared of injuries. They should still expand the rosters a little.

The players smell weed. Part of the deal is there won't be any suspensions for THC.

boo hoo for football players making millions of dollars having to play 2 extra games... spare me. serve your country, serve the streets of your community and talk about injuries. How about my life? I will not make in a lifetime of working 5 days a week ALL YEAR versus what some of these fools make for 16 3-4 hour events. Practice and chillin with your homies for the year sounds beautiful to me.
