They didn't specify length but say it's long term. I like his analysis, but 17 mill? Forget about it.

Worth it. They want to mold him into the next Madden.

1) First of all he is not even that good.
2) It's an absolutely absurd amount to pay for a sports announcer.

There was a time when Madden made more per year as an announcer than any other player in the league.

lol quit hating. Romo is a better announcer than he was a QB. He's the goat of this generation and it's not even close.

Never in my life have I said "I really enjoy listening to *insert name* commentating".
I've b***hed about someone's piss poor researched analysis or biased analysis but never "I look forward to his perspective" until Tony Romo (and I trashed him when he played cause he wasn't clutch haha but still a real good QB).
So I look at it as, if someone like myself who usually doesn't give a flying f**k about who's doing the commentating, and now I look forward to his perspective - I think that's called money well spent from the tv stations part

It took him a lifetime of studying film, playing high school/college/professional football etc.
He didnt get that 17 mil because he is some blonde bimbo that just has big tits that guys like to drool over.
It's called hard work and what you can get from it.
He didn't stumble across 17 mil lol he monetized all the knowledge and hard work he put in over the last 20 years. Good for him

And that's the market for these jobs as well.
Gruden was making 10 mil a year at ESPN. Cowher at CBS over 4 mil.
If CBS, ESPN, or whoever wants to have credible people, they need to pay a lot. Otherwise, a guy like Cowher would be coaching football and making at least 5 mil a year. He wouldn't take 500k a year from CBS when he can make 10 times that amount in the NFL. So if CBS wants a guy like Cowher for credibility, they need to pay a lot.
