His value is in his appeal to the listeners based on his knowledge and background. It is not calculated on a per hour/day basis.

Of course, he does a lot of prep work for each broadcast.

Romo is a way better broadcaster than he was a qb. Probably gets paid more now too.

No doubt.

Yup. A lot goes into production. Thats why it is such high quality. So many meetings.
Romo is hands down the best announcer in the business imo so.

Romo is one of the most unathletic looking quarterbacks that I've seen in some time. You look at him and he looks like your neighbor if you didn't know who he was.

(insert Tom Brady combine pic)
It's absurd what athletes, entertainers and CEOs make now but it is wha tit is. They wouldn't make that much if people quit going to games or watching movies and TV.

Agreed. It's really not even close.

I think Alex will probably do well as well. They both have a likable personality in the way they speak. They are both very relaxed and don't let their egos chime into their analysis.

He really isin't. Alot better than (someone like) Booger but that's not saying very much.

Gruden is the only announcer on (or close to) Madden's level. Romo gives the casual fan something to chew on, and I get that, but the commentary is lacking compared to those two.

You are nuts Gruden was drizzling s**t. Unless your idea of great insight into the game is to swing from the nuts of every single older player, slightly past his prime living on their reputation. If Gruden were around last year it would have been 4 quarters about how great Sherman is and how if Gruden was till coaching he would take ten of him. And Booger was the worst commentator in the history of this or any sport. A total moron who should not have been handed any sort of job on tv.

Personally, I was excited when Gruden joined the booth in 2009.. but the nice guy/watered down version of him we got compared to the fiery guy he was on the sidelines (who can forget when he'd be mic'd on game day or FOX/CBS would show him yelling at a ref and you could read his lips easily). He was way too filtered and watered down as a color guy.

One guy I wish would join the booth on a top level assignment is Kurt Warner. He sees the game very well and does an excellent job communicating what he sees to viewers. I know he does a top radio gig with Kevin Harlan currently, but networks should be trying to hire him ASAP!
NFL defenses are gonna watch Romo's broadcast during the game.
