Straightoutta makes $2.7M for 1 year and sucks.

This is an odd one. Maybe Person's neck injury was a career ender? Then again, they've stuck by Richburg so

This is a tricky one for me. Person was the weak link for sure, but Compton isn't much better. It's seems like more of a lateral move, unless they're valuing his positional versatility more.
Insurance - just in case we can't find anyone better to be a sub.
Compton, like Person can play multiple positions and knows the offense already. I think Person had a big injury or something...
Hopefully Shanny knows a lot more than we do on Compton. To me Compton seems like he is easily replace able by a mid round draft pick, assuming Compton isn't starting RG quality. Now if Shanny thinks Compton is good for the starting RG spot, and a better option than Brunskill, then I am totally cool with that, because under 3 million for a capable starting O-lineman isn't a bad deal.

Richburg is the one that scares me, in that we basically restructured his deal, and it basically guaranteed him to be one the roster for 2020, and probably 2021. Now if Richburg is garbage in 2020, then we can get out of his deal with some savings if we cut/trade him, and a lot more savings if we elect to give him a June 1st cut we gain a lot more cap space, but we spread the dead money over 2 years instead of taking the whole hit in 1 year.

This, Compton knows Kyle's system, and can play all over the line. Person's injury is likely more serious than noted.

Why not an injury settlement then?

That's saying something too b/c the Jets coach Pollack is highly regarded as well.

also add

cause new hires always say bad things about their new bosses at the beginning.

He had zero dead money on his contract. We didn't need to settle anything.

He had an offer from the Jets as well....hey I agree I was not fan of the move either lol.

Of course he did. The Jets singled handily bought every single OL in the FA market. I've never seen anything like it.

He's depth. No real issues with it until he actually has to start. Then I'll be worried.
