Kerry Hyder, DE

He needs to be back, especially since we will be so thin at CB. We need our DL to be dominating again if we want a chance at the playoffs next year.

Absolutely. The secondary will be tested, invest in the DL first. We've got Kinlaw and promising young players on the interior with Givens and Street, who I thought played better with more snaps. Retain your best vets in the trenches, and draft quality depth to groom behind them on the edge.
Hyder and a pass rushing draft pick will be a nice combo across from Bosa next year. Will ease the blow from Ford flaming out. Git r done Lynch!

But he's really crafty, understands how to rush from the edge, and has surprisingly good ankle bend for a bigger dude. Not to mention he's got a hell of a motor.

I hope he's back next year.

It would be so funny if ShanaLynch drafted a DT and put him on the edge. Oh wait a minute...

He'll look good playing next to Quinnen Williams though.

crazy how much better every DLman is better than armstead, who gets paid WAY more than the rest.

Personally I think he's playing out of position (at DE) vs his (I think) natural position at DT. If they can get a Kerry Hyder 2.0 in FA/UDFA or Draft, and permanently move Armstead inside, maybe he can flourish more. With him constantly moving around, I think he can't focus on his position and techniques and hence his overall play I think, suffers a bit.

We really need to stop repeating this fallacy that Armstead isn't standing out because he's not playing inside. It's misinformation. He played inside this year plenty of snaps. In fact, Armstead played the entire game inside vs Washington, yet NOBODY on the webzone noticed because he's f**king invisible. And the only reason I noticed is that I focus on the DL on every play.

Armstead sucks everywhere--outside, inside. It doesn't matter. Dude is a giant waste of money. He's getting paid to get after the QB. Yes, he's good against the run, but he should be. He's 300 lbs playing end. No s**t he's going to play the run well.
and no, there's no way to permanently move AA inside unless you also move Kinlaw to nose tackle. That's another thing people need to stop repeating.

Dang, that's too bad. Looks like Armstead cashed in his checks and checked out on improving. Sad. Hopefully Paraag installed some rip cords in his contract and ShanaLynch can do a Colin Kaepernick and press the eject button if he's still underperforming next year.

I wish we could send AA to NY since Saleh loves him, but the cap guys say he's untradeable.
