With him constantly moving around, I think he can't focus on his position and techniques and hence his overall play I think, suffers a bit.

We really need to stop repeating this fallacy that Armstead isn't standing out because he's not playing inside. It's misinformation. He played inside this year plenty of snaps. In fact, Armstead played the entire game inside vs Washington, yet NOBODY on the webzone noticed because he's f**king invisible. And the only reason I noticed is that I focus on the DL on every play.

Armstead sucks everywhere--outside, inside. It doesn't matter. Dude is a giant waste of money. He's getting paid to get after the QB. Yes, he's good against the run, but he should be. He's 300 lbs playing end. No s**t he's going to play the run well.

This.

It's not just his lack of production, either. He doesnt make splash plays and he simply looks lazy and slow on the field. He was "solid" at best this year.. you can find solid for a much cheaper price in free agency.

The only thing we can hope for is Bosa comes back and takes some pressure off of AA for the time being until we can get out of this contract. If hyder comes back or dee ford miraculously gets healthy, even better

AA is just a no. 3 guy. They will find a way out of this if he doesn't return to 2019 form. They may eat the contract but a quality player could replace his production at a fraction of the cost as a no. 3 guy on the D-line.
Hyder will probably make half of what AA is making and have double--maybe triple--his production. AA is making $12m in 2021; Hyder will probably get around ~$6m avg.

AA with the $20m cap hit in 2022. What the hell has happened to our prudent cap management?

The cap was going up $10-$15 mill/year. We had sticker shock with Jimmy G's contract at first, now it's VERY modest at best. If the pandemic hadn't occurred, the contract wouldn't have looked bad.

Additionally, while AA didn't make a big dent on the stat sheet, part of Hyder's success can be attributed to AA getting attention. That was echoed by Saleh and our DL coach. If AA has a similar year though, I agree $20 mill is WAY too much.

But let's just see how 2021 goes, and make a decision from here. As long as Bosa and AA stay healthy, I think AA logs 7 or more sacks.

This is BS. Hyder wins his 1 on 1's frequently and hustles. Those are the two biggest factors to his success. In fact, AA wasn't on the field for half of Hyder's sacks. Let's not give AA excuses because that's what this is. The guy gets paid handsomely, and he's trash relative to his pay.

Man. Buckner with his 21 million sounds like a better bargain than AA and his contract

Whose idea was it to over pay for AA and over pay for JG?

If Hyder gets over paid, he might be first over paid guy who gets the job done... stays on the field and doesn't suck at his job
Damn you, Baldy. Stfu and stop blowing up Hyder's cost. Once teams watch the tape, they'll see a very good player.

you bring stuff like this up. you get accused of being a debbie downer. we have serious issues. relying on a bunch of hurt guys to hopefully come back. question marks in nearly every place,, then you got people saying..oh we do not need hyder.. we do not need williams. we do not need jason v. well. we sure as hell need someone in many places.... jimmy has his issues but its not like this team is one piece away from a deep run in the playoffs. the need to improve in many areas outweighs the want to move up. burn draft picks.. lynch has a good history of that with us... and get a qb is foolhardy in my opinion. you get a hot shot rookie qb.. you lose trent. you take tepid steps to address the line. what difference does it make who the qb is

Bosa will be a question mark for all of 1 game and then it will be "ok Bosa is Bosa" or "He looks even better"

To me he is not a question mark. He is a 23 year old freak athlete. I am not concerned about the injuries but I can see why others are.

i love him... i like the reports on him,.. i am hopeful he will be better than ever. but to many times we have heard,. well it was worse than we thought... well he needs to undergo another minor procedure. well we now have to do some cleanup surgery. well there is a little swelling that is concerning..
I hope they resign Hyder, he was solid and adds great depth. Lynch better make this dude a priority.
