I forgot about Omenihu...

Really need him to take a leap this year.

He was dirt cheap. Why not give him a 3 year deal. If he performs this year he'll be signed somewhere else for more money next year.

doubt his agent would advise anyone sign a multi year deal after a down season.

Cause he is a 30 year old fringe player no way would he receive a three year deal.

Wait until we get Key back cheap next year. Just rotate him and Kyder.

Great point, that is entirely possible.

I hope the 49ers are getting the 2020 Hyder.

Are we getting the 2020 coverage unit?

Probably not. But Hyder didn't have Bosa most of the year and was our premier edge rusher. Now, Hyder is no. 2 at best with AA at 3T.

He also has guys like Omenihu, Ebukam, and Willis in the rotation. I still want a speed rusher no later than round 3.

BPA.

And I hope BPA is a speed rusher in the 2nd or 3rd.

As I said on the other thread, we will be a destination for 1 year deal for DL and I'm cool with that. They know they get to work with Kocurek and they will flourish in his system. We pay them cheap and they get paid on their next stop. We'll just bring them back if they bust on their next stop. Its a win for both sides honestly and Kocurek will just find his next project... Ridgeway maybe? Willis, Omenihu, healthy Kinlaw... can always get more thru the draft and another low key FA signing. We'll be alright with this unit. Welcome back Hyder.
I'd rather we develop a young pass rusher over re signing Key

I have no idea what Seattle was thinking moving him inside after seeing him ball out as a wide 9 edge rusher, but I'm so happy to have him back. The dude is so crafty with his wide array of moves. Our edge group definitely got better today.

Why can't they do both, Key looked better inside on passing downs than outside anyway.

Hyder was effective in the wide9. SEA signed him and basically had him acting like a 3-4DE. Pretty stupid when you think about it.

In the bear front the Seahawks rolled out in order to slow the under center, wide zone attacks of the division rival Rams and San Francisco 49ers, the team's personnel needs were different than they had been in seasons past. In particular, the bear front the team adopted functioned much more along the lines of a 3-4, needing just two off ball linebackers and two outside linebackers who functioned more like defensive ends.

Thus, instead of retaining Wright, the team used free agency to sign traditional defensive ends like Carlos Dunlap, Kerry Hyder, Benson Mayowa.

I was typing up my post when you posted this. Yeah let's get Hyder back in the scheme that saw his best season.
People act like since we signed Hyder we are all done addressing edge lol. Dude has under one million guaranteed for one year and this draft is deep with edge talent. People need to chillax.
Now sign Carlos Dunlap and take a DE in the draft. 😎. The best D lines have multiple guys who can rotate in to keep everyone fresh. I love this!

Yup. In no way would the front office view this as a multiyear solution. I agree I don't think this changes their draft plans. Knowing how much this front office loves to draft DL, I doubt signing Hyder changes their draft plans. Just gives competition for snaps between Hyder, Ebukam, Willis which is never a bad thing.
