Hyder is a freak. He never really got a chance up here in Seattle but I'm sure he'll be able to lock down that DE opposite Bosa and have an impactful year. Hard worker and never gives up on a play. Great pick up

Is the thinking here Hyder is the edge setting starter opposite Bosa and Jackson comes in on clear passing situations kinda like Aldumb in his first couple years?

Could be, Jackson's body didn't hold up last season, he better be in there conditioning, getting ready, eating right, whatever it takes, he needs to take a leap in yr 2, but yes I can see Bosa-Hargrave-Armstead-Hyder as starters, last time Hyder played DE most of the snaps he had what? 8 sacks? It'd be nice to have a Yannick, if he's cheap enough for 1yr till Jackson is ready, but I like our depth right now.
DL should be something like this IMO.
DE: Bosa, Hyder, Jackson, Ferrell, Bryant
IDL: Hargrave, Armstead, Givens, Kinlaw, Davis/McGill
I can see them adding a young EDGE, maybe not early, but sometime on day 3, but it may not be a pressing need now that Hyder is back.

Agreed. 11 picks so likely one of them is a developmental edge but Hyder + general DE depth seems to pacify the immediate need for a big trade up. Which probably means we trade our 3 3s and go get a DE in the 2nd

I think CF will be the starter on base downs over Hyder and DJ. DJ comes in on clear pass rushing downs. Hyder is just a depth rotational guy.

Lol, yeah, wouldn't shock me if we still draft a EDGE high, but I like the depth, let Kris Kocurek get his hands on Ferrell & Bryant, mold them, let them get a nice payday in 2024, get 2025 comp picks, rinse & repeat lol

Don't underestimate Hyder, I know he didn't do a lot last yr, but he was playing mainly IDL, now we have some good depth there, so Hyder can stay on the EDGE where he shined for us in 2020.

Meh I don't think he makes the final roster.

I think Hyder battles CF for that spot. What you stated is Ferrell's best chance to get regular snaps, but we know (at least from now 3 years ago) that Hyder can hold down that other DE position AND provide a pass rush presence. Ferrell's got youth, Hyder has experience. Going to be a great battle. Will be even better if Jackson's conditioning is better and he shows he can hold up on run downs. That way, we can just have our guys go all out and sub as needed (ideal).
