Will the 2020 NFL season be canceled due to COVID19?

i cant see a scenario where they play this year Even if they get a vaccine by fall, they'll still need time to administer it to the general population. Then we'll be in the stands worrying if the dude next to you/me got the vaccine or not. To much grey area for this year. I'm usually not so pessimistic, but im not seeing a way to play any sports this year. Games without fans isn't going to work either imo that'd be huge loss in revenue for all home teams

Games without fans but still getting TV revenue >>>>> no revenue at all.

They'll play without fans if they can

Governor Newsom reaffirmed today that until a "treatment" has been developed and tested for the virus, there will be no mass gathering events. If that holds, there will be no NFL this fall with fans.

I can tolerate games without fans. I just want the game back but safety above all..

The NFL can consult the Cheathawks on pumping in crowd noise.

The whole social distancing thing seems weird to me, especially in the context of fans entering the venue walking in the same spot where tens of thousands of other people have breathed. So it's kind of like... did the distancing do anything?

I'd like to buy flights as soon as the schedule gets released. I assume vacation will not be as cheap for the foreseeable future. I don't care about that flu, it sucks. But it's still six months.
NFL has officially announced no international (aka London) games in 2020 season.

Possibly the lone positive impact on the 2020 season because of Covid-19.

From everything that Newsom has done and said, it seems unlikely the 49ers will play any home games before at least mid-october. Will other teams be willing to flex their schedules to accommodate what California teams are bound by?

just because they announce a season doesn't mean it is going to start. I want a season as much as any of you but a lot will be dependent on infection rates and fatalities.

IF the lockdown restrictions being lifted are premature and you see a spike in new infections then kiss the NFL season goodbye. Be careful what you wish for.
